    • A device for monitoring the freshness of food items is provided; made up of plastic and thermos-measuring product. It detects mold or bad gases from the stored food when it reacts with the gasses released by microorganisms during food spoilage or mold. It provides visual indication to the user about the freshness of food items by changing colors. When it stays green the food is safe to eat and when food becomes unsafe it shows red indication to the user. It can be placed in a redesigned Tupperware lid, cup, plates, zip lock bag, or directly built into all prepackaged organic food products; such as prepackaged meat, milk jugs, juices, animal feed, plant seed or anything with an expiration date. It is designed for one time use only.

    • A method and device for identifying a molecule in a sample, the molecule comprising an electrophilic or nucleophilic moiety. The method comprises contacting the sample with a plurality of chemosensors, each of the chemosensors comprising a π-conjugated system and a moiety having a nucleophilic property or an electrophilic property; and measuring an electromagnetic property of each of the chemosensors in the sample; whereby the pattern of changes in the electromagnetic properties of the plurality of chemosensors after chemically reacting with the electrophile or nucleophile of the molecule identifies the molecule in said sample. The device comprises a substrate carrying a plurality of chemosensor molecules having at least one predetermined electromagnetic property, the at least one electromagnetic property being changeable by subjecting the chemosensor molecules to a sample containing at least one electrophile or nucleophile, wherein the pattern of change of the electromagnetic property of the plurality of chemosensor molecules allows the device to identify the electrophile or nucleophile in the sample.

    • A sensor for quantitatively detecting an analyte in a sample, wherein an optical behavior of at least one dye depending on the analyte is used for the quantitative detection is provided. The at least one dye is contained in a medium. A restrictor is provided in order to mechanically limit volume changes of the medium. Furthermore, an osmolality in the medium is set in such a way that the osmolality is higher than the highest sample osmolality for which the sensor is to be used.
