    • The heat collector system comprises a heat collector connected to a heat p. The heat collector has an inlet conduit and contains a heat transmitting fluid and is effective to take radiation heat from the environment. The heat collector has a structural configuration effective to additionally absorb convection heat as a convector which causes a good heat transmission between the ambient air and the heat transmitting fluid. A rated and controlled cooling device is connected to the heat conduit of the heat collector. The cooling device is effective to supply fluid to the heat collector at a temperature below the temperature of the ambient air. Further features of the invention include a regulating device effective to regulate the difference in temperature between the temperature of the ambient air and the cooling temperature. The collector may be composed of two superimposed chambers including an upper chamber made of transparent material and having a heat conductive surface and a lower chamber having a structural configuration effective to absorb heat radiation.

    • A solar heating unit for disposition exteriorly of a building window for heating the air within the space interiorly of the window embodying a casing with a transverse divider for creating a rear passage and a front passage which are in communication in their lower portions. The upper end of the rear passage connects with the forward end of a rearwardly extending lower duct having a cool air inlet at the rearward end thereof. The upper end of the front passage connects with the forward end of an upper duct progressing rearwardly above the lower duct and with there being a warm air outlet at the rearward extremity thereof. A heat exchanger is disposed within the front passage for impingement thereon of solar radiation passing through a transparent panel defining the front of said casing. A thermal responsive closure is provided at the upper end of said front passage for closing same when the temperature within the front passage has descended to a predetermined level.

    • An air-based solar collector panel has a single glazing for a front wall. A first channel is defined by a sheet-like translucent member spaced apart rearwardly from the single glazing. A second channel is defined by a sheet-like absorber member spaced apart rearwardly from the translucent member. A third channel is defined by a wall member spaced apart rearwardly from the absorber member. Baffle members are disposed in the third channel to provide a circuitous gas flow path therein. Inflowing air enters and flows through the first channel and then enters and flows through the second channel where it first acquires significant heat from the absorber. The flowing air enters the circuitous path of the third channel where it is intensely heated by the absorber and very-hot-air exits the panel.The heat contained in the very-hot-air may be stored by water contained in a tank. The very-hot-air is discharged through a bubbling means positioned at the bottom of the water tank. Baffle members are provided in the water tank to provide a circuitous path through the water for the air bubbles rising in the water. The circuitous path enhances heat transfer between the rising air bubbles and the tank water.

    • An elongated shallow housing is provided including a closed lower side, an open upper side opposite the lower side and opposite ends between which said lower side extends. In both forms a fluid is first heated as it circulates through passages in the flat plate absorber and then is further heated to a higher temperature as it passes through the tube absorber.

    • A solar heating unit which is covered at the top by a glass plate and at the bottom by an insulating layer, and at a height therebetween by an absorber plate which divides the unit into an upper and lower chamber through which forced air is guided to flow in opposite directions in contact first with the top and then the bottom surface of the absorber plate. The absorber plate has a smaller spacing from the glass cover than from the bottom insulating layer so that the air flows through the upper chamber at a faster rate than through the lower chamber. Due to this design the temperature gradient of the air on the two sides of the cover plate is held relatively low and heat losses through this cover are reduced at a minimum of expense. Several portable heating units of this design may be serially connected to form a free-standing solar heating assembly, for example, for supplying drying air to a grain bin.
