    • A plumbing assembly is disclosed that comprises an access panel which allows increased access to a temperature and humidity control system such as a heating or air-conditioning system. The access panel includes at least one valve for controlling the flow of a fluid and communicates with the first end of a first piping assembly. The second end of the first piping assembly communicates with a second piping assembly typically through a valve situated within the second piping assembly. The second piping assembly is part of a temperature and humidity control system and is generally in fluid communication with a heat transfer coil in the temperature and humidity control system. The access panel allows a technician or inspector to service or inspect a heating or air-conditioning system without the risk of injury and the cost associated with conventional methods.

    • A high-efficiency air filtering apparatus for cleaning and circulating air in a closed room is in the shape of a vertical cylinder and includes a semi-cylindrical housing and a semi-cylindrical filtering chamber, both enclosing a centrifugal blower configured to suck filtered air out of the apparatus through the filter and to blow it into the room. The apparatus is characterized by that the filtering chamber contains a closely pleated filter sheet of HEPA-filter which is covered on top and bottom by flat panels and is air-tightly pressed onto the semi-cylindrical housing, thus making the apparatus completely air tight. The filtering chamber is urged onto the contour of the filtering chamber and is releasably fastened to the top and bottom of the housing, permitting replacement of the filter after clogging. A pressure sensor is mounted on the blower housing configured to effect a visible signal to be issued as soon as the pressure inside the housing rises above a predesignated magnitude due to clogging of the filter.

    • A filter condition sensor and indicator is disclosed. A filter condition sensor and indicator that responds to the presence of a predetermined collection of material in a filter operatively positioned in an output air flow path. A small by-pass air flow path is connected to the output air flow path and is separate from the filter. A heated thermistor is positioned in the by-pass air flow path. Electrically connected in series with the heated thermistor is an indicator light that illuminates when the resistance in the circuit is decreased due to predetermined cooling of the heated thermistor. In this way, a predetermined collection of material in the filter increases the flow of air in the small by-pass air flow path for cooling the heated thermistor and for lowering the resistance in the circuit to illuminated the indicator light. Even in those instances where a multi-speed fan is located in the output air flow path, the present invention overcomes changing fan speeds and changing air velocity by coupling the thermistor in a circuit which changes the voltage and current through the thermistor depending on the fan setting.

    • An apparatus and method for using a programmable variable speed motor to indicate a clogged filter while providing a constant airflow acrcss a wide range of restrictions. A motor has speed and airflow parameters and a built-in constant airflow regulator. A blower unit is connected to the motor to draw air from the inlet to the outlet. A filter reduces airborne particles as air is forced from the inlet to the outlet by operation of the motor and blower. A control system adjusts the airflow parameter of the motor based on the motor speed and environmental conditions such as light and motion. If an electronic air cleaner filter is employed, a discharge counter counts the frequency of pops occurring across the electrodes of that filter. The control system adjusts the voltage across those electrodes based on the discharge counter values.
