    • A device, system and method for heating fluid (air) in a flue to create a draw prior to combusting a fuel in a combustion device. The device, system and method includes a housing that may be integrated about the flue. The housing may include a heat exchanger that itself may include a heating source that may be in thermal communication with the flue and a temperature differentiation driver. The heat exchanger may operate to transfer heat energy from the heating source to a fluid constrained to a path created by the flue. The result is a pressure differential created within the flue to help draw the fluid out of the combustion device. The heat exchanger may be configured such that it may cause heat transfer to the heavier, more dense fluid contained within the ventilation system prior to combusting fuel in a combustion device, thereby causing the fluid to be relatively less dense thus creating a draw.

    • A flue tuning and emissions saving system is disclosed. The device or system includes an inlet duct (20) having an inlet cross-sectional area and an outlet duct (18) having an outlet cross-sectional area that is the same as the inlet cross-sectional area. An outer duct (16) that is of an outer duct cross-sectional area is sealingly connected to the inlet duct (20) and the outlet duct (18), while separating the inlet duct (20) and the outlet duct (18). At least one disc (12) that is positioned at a specified distance S between the inlet duct (20) and at the same S to the outlet duct (18) and centered in the outer duct, the disk (12) includes a specified disc area so that flow of an exhaust gas entering the system through the inlet duct (20) will be diverted by the disc (12) into the outer duct (16) before the flow continues to the outlet duct (18) without encountering a restriction in flow cross-sectional area. When two or more discs are used, an annular fin (22) that extends from the outer duct to create a passage of the inlet duct (20) diameter that separates the discs.

    • A device for drawing dilution air into a flue pipe extending from a furnace toward a chimney is disclosed. The device comprises first and second members. The first member includes an inlet and an outlet. The inlet is connectable to a furnace side of the flue pipe to receive flue gas therefrom. The outlet of the first member discharges the flue gas out of the first member. The second member include a body, a base, an outlet, a mixing chamber, and at least one louver. The base extends from the body toward the first member and has an opening fitted around the first member so that the outlet of the first member is positioned within the body of the second member and a flow passage is formed between the first member and the body of the second member. The outlet of the second member is connectable to a chimney side of the flue pipe. The mixing chamber receives the flue gas discharged from the outlet of the first member and the dilution air from the louver(s). The dilution air at least partially mixes with the flue gas in the mixing chamber before it is discharged with the flue gas to the chimney side of the flue pipe through the outlet of the second member.

    • A duct system contains a narrow, liquid tight conduit filled with cold water which can be used to prevent fires in the ducts of chimneys, high rise buildings, restaurants and the like. If a fire starts in a duct, the wall of the duct heats up very slowly because of its proximity to the thin walled conduit containing the cold water (which gets warmer as the fire builds momentum). If the fire persists and the heat of the outer wall rises to a designated temperature (e.g. 200 degrees Fahrenheit), a valve opens and the heated water (the originally cold water) is flushed out and fresh cold water is brought in, further impeding the fire's progress. The fire will likely burn itself out without ever igniting any combustibles outside the duct walls. The flushed out water can be sprayed onto the roof of the building to prevent any burning fly ash from starting a fire on the roof.
