    • A gear box includes an output shaft defining multiple output drivers and includes a plurality of gear sets having the same diametral pitch. A common input shaft is operatively attached to each of the plurality of gear sets such that the gear sets rotate continuously and concurrently with rotation of the input shaft. Each of the output drivers is operatively attached to the output shaft and rotatably driven by a respective one of the plurality of gear sets. The multiple output drivers share a common axis of rotation with the output shaft. The output speed of the gear box may be changed by disconnecting one of the output drivers from a driven device and reconnecting another one of the output drivers to the driven device. The output speed of the gear box may be changed without having to disengage and/or change out any of the gears in the gear box.

    • A speed changer assembly for changing the rotational speed of an engine's (or other prime mover's) output to that required by the input of a process machine. In operation, a first gear is in meshing engagement with an idler gear, which in turn, is in meshing engagement with a second gear. When operation of the speed changer assembly is halted, the idler gear is pivotable about one of the first and second gears. A centre distance between the idler gear and the gear about which the idler gear is pivoted remains constant while the centre distance between the idler gear and the other gear is varied. The idler gear is taken out of meshing engagement with the other gear, permitting replacement of said other gear. The idler gear is then pivoted to establish meshing engagement with the replacement gear and the speed changer is configured with a new speed ratio.

    • A gear drive including an input gear having alternative first and second positions and which is selectively locatable at one of the first and second positions. The input gear includes a circumferential surface having a preselected first plurality of teeth when the input gear is located at the first position and a preselected second plurality of teeth larger than the first plurality of teeth when the input gear is located at the second position. A power source is connected to the input gear for rotating the input gear at a first rotational speed when the power source is connected to the input gear at the first position and at a slower second rotational speed when the power source is connected to the input gear at the second position. Output gears engage the input gear for receiving circumferential drive from the input gear which is at substantially the same velocity with the input gear located at both the first and second positions.
