    • A system and method for fabricating the corner of a plastic window frame. The system includes a metal platen having opposed sides and that is for heating and melting adjacently disposed frame pieces by being inserted between the adjacently disposed frame pieces as the adjacently disposed frame pieces are brought into contact with respective opposed sides of the metal platen in order to melt adjacent surfaces of the adjacently disposed frame pieces. The adjacently disposed frame pieces, once heated and melted, are drawn together to form the corner of the vinyl window frame. A release layer is secured to the opposed sides of the metal platen and disposed between the respective adjacently disposed frame pieces and the opposed sides of the metal platen to prevent adherence between the metal platen and frame pieces. The release layer is comprised of a release film having a work area corresponding to an area where the adjacently disposed frame pieces are to be joined and a non-work area outside of the work area, and at least one adhesive strip is disposed within the non-work area for securing the release film to the metal platen while the work area is absent any adhesive between the release layer and the metal platen.

    • A framing corner joint includes first and second framing rails of fiberglass-reinforced resin construction. The first and second framing rails have hollow mitered ends. A pair of thermoplastic plugs are received in the mitered ends of the respective framing rails. Each of the plugs includes a body inserted into the hollow interior of an associated framing rail and a flat plug flange at an angle of 45° to the body. The plug flanges extend outwardly from the peripheries of the bodies between the rail ends and have flat end faces that are bonded to each other. The bodies of the plugs preferably are hollow, and preferably are received by interference press-fit within the ends of the rails. The plug flanges of the plugs preferably are welded to each other.

    • A description is given of a method for producing entire frames made up of plastic profiles for outer frames and sash frames. This method consists in the fact that the outer-frame profiles and the sash-frame profiles are connected temporarily to one another with the aid of at least one interposed spacer piece, which compensates for the difference in the frame outer dimensions in the direction of the frame plane, and, in this assembled arrangement, are jointly cut to size, welded and, if appropriate, finished. In this arrangement, the same (or another) spacer piece also gives an additional distance between the frame profiles in the direction perpendicular to the frame plane, which additional distance, depending on the thickness of the frame profiles, is set to a range of from 3-10 mm.
