摘要： A fibrous polyamide or wool substrate having resistance to staining by acid colorants comprises, a fibrous polyamide or wool substrate having applied thereto a sulfonated aromatic condensation resin, said resin being a condensation product of a sulfonated dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone, a dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone, a sulfonated naphthalene and an aldehyde; or a sulfonated dihydroxydiphenyl sulfone, a sulfonated naphthalene and an aldehyde; optionally a methacrylic acid polymer is also applied thereto as well as a fluorochemical; an aqueous formulation of the resin is also provided which formulation may include the methacrylic acid polymer as well as the fluorochemical Additionally there may be employed a salt to enhance exhaustion of components onto the substrate; a method of treating a fibrous polyamide or wool substrate employing the formulation is also provided.

摘要： A method of treating articles having a textile surface (such as broadloom carpets or carpet tiles) with a stainblocker composition is disclosed. A pile surface structure having pile elements containing nylon yarns having both acid dyeability and cationic dyeability is dyed with both acid dye and cationic dye and then passed through a hot stainblocker treatment bath and a cooling zone. Substantially the entire height of each pile element is coated with a stainblocker composition whereby the pile surface structure has a stain resistance of 9 or higher on the AATCC Red 40 Stain Scale. The resulting pile surface has good color separation and stability, and no color loss from the catatonically dyeable yarns.

摘要： A process is described which imparts exceptional antisoiling, anti-staining and repellent properties to carpets. The process makes use of a water-based exhaustion process wherein the water-based treating solution contains (1) glassy fluorochemical material, glassy hydrocarbon material, or combinations thereof; (2) a stainblocking material; (3) a polyvalent metal salt, acid, or combinations thereof; and (4) water. Subsequent to exhaustion, the wet treated carpet is heated, usually in a steaming step, rinsed, and dried in a dry heat oven.
