    • A braider comprises a plurality of horngears. The horngears can be arranged for forming at least two closed paths for braiding. Each horngear has a driving gear and a hornplate. Each horngear can be selectably operated in a first mode, to rotate with the driving gear, and in a second mode, in which the driving gear rotates, but the hornplate does not. Bobbin carriers are positioned on some of the horngears. A track is configurable in: a first flat braiding mode with the carriers arranged on the horngears, so that there is one or more separate closed path for forming a first flat braid configuration; and a second flat braiding mode for forming a second flat braid configuration different from the first flat braid configuration,. A switch is provided for changing a configuration of the track between the first and second flat braiding modes.

    • The invention relates to a spindle for a braiding machine. The inventive spindle comprises a spindle base, a shaft on which a spool of yarn is mounted, a plate which can rotate around the aforementioned shaft and a yarn guide support. Said yarn guide slides along columns (13) which are used so support a tube or case (12). Moreover, a part (11) which can be lowered and raised is articulated to the upper end of the aforementioned tube in order to secure the upper base of the spool. A spring (16) comprising an inner core is disposed inside the tube and is used to control the rise and fall of the yarn guide support by means of a link (18), the end of which meets said core. In turn, the yarn guide support actuates a lever and releases the above-mentioned plate using a tensioning wire. The invention further comprises an opening (32) which is provided in the tube (12) and which is suitably dimensioned such that it can be used to insert the spring (16) into, and extract same from, an inner housing located inside the the (12).

One flared end is produced by the large-diameter section of the mandrel, and the opposite outwardly flared end may be produced either by another large-diameter section of the mandrel, or by cutting the tubular braid at a portion formed by the small-diameter section of the mandrel but at a location wherein the release of stresses in the filaments inherently produces an outward flaring of the braid at that end.

    • The tension head of a strand carrier for a braiding machine comprises coaxial head members, the first of which is fixed and the second of which is axially displaceable toward the first, and a plurality of tension spring cartridges therebetween biasing the second head member away from the first head member. The carrier further includes a bobbin coaxial with the first and second head members and a clutch arrangement including a clutch plate interposed between the bobbin and the second head member of the tension head. A plurality of clutch spring units are interposed between the first head member of the tension head and the clutch plate to bias the latter toward the bobbin. Each of the clutch spring units includes a compression spring releasably compressed in place by a corresponding retaining member mounted on the first head member.
