    • A method of colouring porous material, especially human hair, is described, which method comprises applying to the material being coloured, in any desired order successively, or simultaneously, a) at least one capped diazonium compound of Formula (1) and/or at least one compound of Formula (2) and/or at least one compound of Formula (3) wherein Q is an unsubstituted or substituted aromatic or heterocyclic residue, R is the radical of an unsubstituted or substituted, water-soluble aliphatic or aromatic amine, and T is an unsubstituted or substituted, water-soluble aliphatic or aromatic residue, wherein at least one of the groups must contain a radical imparting water solubility, and a) at least one water-soluble coupling component under conditions such that, initially, coupling does not take place, and then causing the capped diazonium compound present on the material to react with the coupling component.

    • The dispersion contains(a) from 30 to 60% by weight of one or more active ingredients having a mean particle size of less than 5.mu.,(b) from 0.1 to 5% by weight of one or more water-soluble homopolymers or copolymers of a N-vinyl-lactam,(c) from 0.1 to 5% by weight of one or more anionic compounds devoid of dispersant character,(d) from 0 to 30% by weight of one or more humectants and(e) water.The active ingredient is sparingly soluble or insoluble in water.The copolymer may be derived from two or more different N-vinyl-lactams or from one or more N-vinyl-lactams and one or more other compounds copolymerizable therewith.The anionic compound or compounds is or are chosen from the group comprising water-soluble alkali metal salts or ammonium salts of aromatic monosulfonic acids, disulfonic acids and trisulfonic acids, which acids may be substituted by alkyl groups of at most 8 carbon atoms or by a cycloalkyl group of at most 6 carbon atoms.The dispersion is prepared by wet milling of corresponding amounts of components (a), (b), (c) and (d) until the mean particle sizse of component (a) is less than 5.mu..Depending on the active ingredient present, the dispersion may be used, inter alia, as a finishing agent for plastics, paper or textiles.

    • Liquid compositions of nitro group-containing aniline compounds containing no sulfonic acid and/or carboxylic acid groups and having a melting point of below 140.degree. C., especially those suitable for use as diazo component in ice color dyeing, which contain 20 to 70% of this nitro-aniline, 5 to 80 weight % of a castor oil oxethylated with 25 to 60 mols of ethylene oxide, and 5 to 65 weight % of N-methyl-pyrrolidone as solvent. By simply mixing these components clear solutions are obtained which can be diazotized within a few seconds by means of an aqueous sodium nitrite solution and thus give diazonium salt solutions free from residue. These diazonium salt solutions can be used in simple manner and very advantageously as developing baths or liquors for producing water-insoluble azo dyestuffs on the fiber according to the ice color technique.

    • Aqueous dispersions of primary aromatic amines which contain at least 30 per cent by weight of a primary aromatic amine, a water-soluble condensation product which contains 2 to 6 radicals of oxalkylated aromatic compounds carrying hydroxy or carboxy groups, these radicals being linked to each other over methylene groups either directly or via radicals of aromatic compounds, and containing water and, optionally, a polyvalent alcohol. These dispersions are very stable and storable for a very long period, the primary aromatic amines therein are so finely dispersed that they do not precipitate; they have a low viscosity and can easily be introduced with stirring in a dyeing liquor or in pastes. These novel dispersions are suitable for the preparation of water-insoluble azo dyestuffs according to the methods of ice-color technique by mixing them with a sodium nitrite solution and a hydrochloric acid solution for diazotization thereafter, the diazo compounds obtained may be used in known and usual manner for the preparation of the dyestuffs.
