    • A personal transporter includes a tubular metal frame supporting a platform for supporting an operator, and the frame has forwardly projecting and parallel spaced inverted L-shaped frame members which support a pair of freely rotating front caster wheels. A pair of reversible electric motor and attached gearbox drive units are mounted on the rear portion of the frame on opposite sides of the platform, and the gearboxes have right angle output shafts forming axles supporting a pair of rear wheels. A storage battery is enclosed within a box in front of the platform, and a vertical adjustable post projects upwardly in front of the box to support a handlebar. A hand control unit is mounted on the handlebar and is connected to the drive units through a control system within the box. The rear wheels are covered by fender guards which also cover the drive units.

    • A drive system for individually driving two driven wheels of a vehicle. The system includes two continuously variable drive motors which are drivingly connected, via a transmission arrangement, with respective driven wheels. Each transmission arrangement includes a shift transmission and a bevel gear transmission, which has a fixed transmission ratio and includes a spur gearset and a bevel gearset. Shift transmissions vary the transmission ratio and the bevel gear transmission enables arranging drive shafts of the drive motors transversely to the rotational axis of the driven wheels. The spur gearsets enable vertical repositioning of the transmissions drive output shafts. Furthermore, with different arrangements of the bevel gears, inclination of respective drive motors and shift transmissions relative to the vehicles longitudinal axis and the angle of the output shafts can be adjusted, such that the drive system can be installed in different vehicle types using largely identical components.

    • A wheel assembly for a wheelchair includes a mounting plate fixed on one side of the seat portion, a motor and a gear unit which includes a gear disc, and a gear shaft that extends through the gear disc. A chain interconnects the driving gear and the driven gear. A hand lever can be moved against the bias action of the spring so as to disengage the key from the recess of the gear disc.
