摘要： A method for forming a composition that includes mixing an antimicrobially active botanical oil (e.g., thymol, carvacrol, etc.) and a modified starch polymer within a melt blending device (e.g., extruder) is provided. Unlike the problems associated with proteins, the use of starch polymers allows for a greater degree of flexibility in the processing conditions and is still able to achieve good properties in the resulting composition. The present inventors have also discovered that a plasticizer may be employed to facilitate melt processing of the starch, as well as to enhance the ability of the botanical oil to flow into the internal structure of the starch where it can be retained in a stable manner. The composition is also typically generally free of solvents. In this manner, the starch will not generally disperse before use and prematurely release the botanical oil. Due to the water sensitivity of the modified starch, however, it may be subsequently dispersed by moisture when it is desired to release the botanical oil.

摘要： Disclosed is an apparatus for the pretreatment and subsequent conveying or plastification of plastics, with a container with a mixing and/or comminution implement that is rotatable around an axis of rotation, wherein, in a side wall, an aperture is formed, through which the plastics material can be removed, a conveyor being provided, with a screw rotating in a housing.The invention is characterized in that the imaginary continuation of the longitudinal axis of the conveyor in a direction opposite to the direction of conveying passes the axis of rotation, there being, on the outflow side, an offset distance between the longitudinal axis and the radius that is parallel to the longitudinal axis, that the L/D ratio of the screw is ≧7, and that the compressing format of the screw begins only from a distance (A) of more than 1.5 times the diameter (d) of the screw.

摘要： A method for forming a composition that includes mixing an antimicrobially active botanical oil (e.g., thymol, carvacrol, etc.) and a modified starch polymer within a melt blending device (e.g., extruder) is provided. Unlike the problems associated with proteins, the use of starch polymers allows for a greater degree of flexibility in the processing conditions and is still able to achieve good properties in the resulting composition. The present inventors have also discovered that a plasticizer may be employed to facilitate melt processing of the starch, as well as to enhance the ability of the botanical oil to flow into the internal structure of the starch where it can be retained in a stable manner. The composition is also typically generally free of solvents. In this manner, the starch will not generally disperse before use and prematurely release the botanical oil. 摘要： An improved process for dispersing filler particles in a resin composition is disclosed. The filler particles, for instance electrically conductive or metal particles, are mixed with a resin material or blend of materials including a resin material to form a mixture that is subjected to an acceleration force. The acceleration force can be generated by passing the mixture through a static nozzle having particular dimensions to generate an acceleration of the mixture in the nozzle in excess of 400,000 m/sec2. The treated particles become uniformly dispersed in the resin composition and a reduction in average particle size of the filler material can be achieved.

摘要： A method of manufacturing of a polymer composite includes the steps of (1) putting a nanofiller and a polymer material in a high-pressure device and eliminating air therefrom; (2) providing a gas in the high-pressure device and performing a heating and blending process on the nanofiller and the polymer material at a first pressure and a first temperature; (3) changing the pressure and temperature of the high-pressure device to a second pressure and a second temperature to thereby obtain a polymer composite; and (4) performing a degassing process on the polymer composite. Accordingly, the method is effective in manufacturing a polymer composite which includes a uniformly dispersed nanofiller.
