    • Provided is an electric wire scrap high-grade recovery apparatus with improved recovery rates of copper materials and the like by causing miscut materials contained in crushed materials to be capable of being separated and recovered with good efficiency. A weir 11 which holds back part of the water flowing on a separation bed 10 in the width direction of the separation bed 10 is provided in a lower part of the separation bed 10, whereby miscut materials 43 contained in crushed materials gather in a region in the vicinity of an upper end of a water pool 12 formed by the weir 11. Therefore, in the above-described region where the miscut materials 43 on the separation bed 11 gather, there are provided on the separation bed partition plates 13, 14 which form miscut material recovery passages 15, 16, whose one end is open and through which the water does not flow, and the miscut materials 43 are recovered by using the miscut material recovery passages 15, 16.

    • The present invention relates to a vibratory screening apparatus which comprises a vibratable screen element (2) mounted in a basket (4), which basket (4) is mounted over a reservoir (6) which contains and holds a pool of liquid slurry (8). A first end (10) of the screen element (2) is disposed within the reservoir (6) such that it is submerged in the body of liquid slurry (8). The reservoir has a deep end (12) in which the first end (10) of the screening element (12) is disposed and a second shallow end (14) above which a median portion (16) of the screening apparatus is disposed. The second end (18) of the screen element (2) is disposed above a portion (20) of the reservoir which extends above the surface of the body of liquid slurry held within the reservoir (6). Vibration means are provided for vibrating the screen element such that oversized solids in the liquid slurry in use of the operation are dewatered on the screen element and are discharged from the second elevated end of the screen element and underside solids pass through the screen element, where they may be collected. A vibratory screening machine is also described.

    • A gravity separator for the separation of heavier particles from lighter waste material comprises a stack of decks (4) mounted for resonant oscillatory motion within a supporting frame (1). A motor (9) oscillates the decks at their resonant frequency while a distribution system (6) supplies a feed in the form of a slurry to the surface of the decks. As shaking continues, the heavier particles within the slurry are gradually separated from the lighter particles. Optimal separation is provided by a control system which, if necessary, automatically changes the amplitude of oscillation and/or the timing of the stages as separation proceeds, for example in response to outputs of detectors which measure the frequency of oscillation and the power being consumed.

    • Apparatus for continuous flow classification and specific gravity separation of relatively fine, heavy sands from gravel and dirt aggregate comprises an elongated channel having an apertured top plate which defines an upwardly facing flume and a cavity. The flume is adapted to have a flow of water bearing the aggregate introduced at its upstream end to flow over the top plate so that the relatively smaller, heavier material falls through the apertures into the cavity. An inclined table is positioned in the cavity below the top plate, the angle of inclination of the table being adjustable. The table has a trough defining side portions and terminating in a downstream extension for discharging tailings, the extension having an opening communicating with the sump portion of the cavity. An adjustable weir diverts flow of a selected heavier portion of the material from the trough into the cavity sump. Riffles are provided on the table side portions under the top plate apertures, the width of the spaces between the riffles being narrower than the width of the riffles. The riffles have a selectively adjustable downstream inclination. Means are provided for selectively introducing an additional flow of water at the upstream end of the cavity between the table and top plate. Additional riffles are provided at the bottom of the trough, and a Venturi is provided for removing separated heavier sands from the cavity sump.
