    • For distributing feed to livestock, a vehicle frame is movable along the ground and upstanding therefrom is a bin into which the feed initially is received. An opening is defined in one wall of the bin. A conveyor effectively forms at least a portion of another wall of the bin and is movable to urge that feed outwardly from the bin through the opening. Upstanding from the frame is a carriage spaced outwardly of the bin from the opening and toward which the feed is urged by the conveyor. There is at least one and preferably are two lateral slots defined between the carriage and the bin and through which the feed is to be dispensed. A repetitively-reciprocating dispenser is mounted on the side of the carriage facing the opening for dispensing through the lateral slots incremental portions of the feed as urged toward the carriage by the conveyor. The specifics involve tining of a feed such as hay outwardly through the lateral slots as urged against tines by the conveyor.

    • A mixing and discharge apparatus is used to mix various feed constituents and to discharge the feed mixture while the vehicle travels. A low energy demand for mixing purposes is provided by eliminating the usual rotary screws or agitators and using solely conveyor plates fixed to the inner wall of the drum for turning with the drum to mix the feed and for conveying the mixture toward the discharge end of the drum. The discharge of the agglutinated feed mixture is facilitated by the use of a cover means which may be shifted to form an annular gap with the drum to provide an accurate metering of the discharge feed mixture. A crossfeed conveyor receives the discharge mixture. Overlapping apertures on the cover of the drum may be used to discharge liquid constituents in a controlled manner.

    • Improved apparatus useful in conjunction with a forage wagon to allow forage material to be removed from the wagon by dispensing it laterally toward the side of the wagon or, alternatively, to dispense the material directly out the front of the wagon to the area beneath the wagon such as in the filling of a trench silo. The improved apparatus includes a lateral feed conveyer affixed to the front end of the forage box by a removable attachment apparatus. Bottom and top collecting pans located beneath the lateral feed conveyer form a removable delivery surface and are constructed of discrete sections which are mounted on rail members for selective removal and replacement.

    • A forage wagon or the like having components driven by a power take-off shaft and including apparatus for selectively disengaging the power take-off shaft and the driven parts. The disengaging apparatus includes a safety clutch having a circular drive clutch plate supported on a drive shaft of a power take-off shaft for rotation with the drive shaft and a driven circular clutch plate freely rotatably supported on the drive shaft. The driven clutch plate functions to drive the various driven parts of the forage wagon. In the normal operating condition, a drive pin, aligned parallel to the axis of the drive shaft, is received through bores in both the drive plate and the driven plate such that the driven plate rotates with the drive plate. The drive pin supports a cam pin which is received in slideable engagement against a camming surface and engageable with a trip lever which can cause sliding movement of the cam pin relative to the camming surface and consequent axial movement of the drive pin out of engagement with the driven plate thereby disengaging the drive plate and the driven plate. A further aspect of the invention includes an actuating assembly providing a secondary safety means responsive to actuation of the safety clutch and for causing disengagement of a second clutch controlling operation of the forage wagon driven beaters and main conveyor.
