    • The present invention is a photographic element containing a support, at least one light sensitive emulsion layer superposed on the first side of the support, and an outermost lubricant layer superposed on the support. The outermost layer includes more than 80 percent by weight of a composite wax particle. The composite wax particle includes a wax phase and a non-crosslinked polymer phase. The wax phase is greater than 80 percent by weight of a wax which has a melting point of greater than 30° C. In one embodiment the lubricant layer contains a fluoro containing compound. It is envisioned that the lubricant layer overlies a transparent magnetic layer. The total coating weight of the composite wax particle in the lubricant layer is in the range of from 1 to 300 mg/m2. Preferably, the fluoro compound contains at least one type of an ionic group or a nonionic group.

    • A support for an imaging element is described, which support comprises a polyester polymeric film having coated thereon a subbing layer comprising gelatin and a multi-hydric organic compound having at least three hydroxyl groups, which gelatin subbing layer coated support has been subjected to a heat treatment to reduce the core-set curling tendency of the polymeric film. Imaging elements for use in an image-forming process is also described, which elements comprise a gelatin subbing layer coated polyester polymeric film support as described above, and an image-forming layer coated on the subbed support. A method for forming a heat-tempered, gelatin-subbed support for an imaging element is also described, comprising coating a subbing layer comprising gelatin and a multi-hydric organic compound having at least three hydroxyl groups on a polyester polymeric film, and subjected the coated film to heat treatment to reduce the core-set curling tendency of the polymeric film. In accordance with preferred embodiment of the invention, the polymer film comprises poly(ethylene naphthalate), the multi-hydric organic compound comprises glycerol, sorbitol, or pentaerythritol, and the heat treatment comprises subjecting the gelatin subbing layer coated support to a temperature of from 50.degree. C. up to the glass transition temperature of the polymeric film for from 0.1 to 1500 hours.

    • A coating composition useful for forming an electrically conductive layer on a substrate is disclosed, said composition comprising a liquid medium containing: a) a vanadium oxide gel, b) a film-forming binder, and c) a conductivity-increasing amount of a volatile aromatic compound comprising an aromatic ring substituted with at least one hydroxy group or a hydroxy substituted substituent group. In accordance with yet a further embodiment of the invention, an imaging element for use in an image-forming process is described, which element comprises a support, an image-forming layer, and an electrically conductive layer, said electrically conductive layer having been formed by applying a coating of the coating composition of the invention, and drying the coating. The invention provides composite supports and imaging elements containing an electrically conductive antistatic layer having excellent antistatic performance and adhesion to polymer film supports.

    • The present invention is a photographic element including a substrate with a polyolefin resin layer, which is preferably polypropylene, on each surface of the said substrate. The photographic paper includes a print or backmark retaining and spliceable antistatic layer having a dry coverage of from 10 mg/m.sup.2 to 10,000 mg/m.sup.2 on one of the free surfaces of the polyolefin layers. An imaging layer may be superimposed on the other free surface of the polyolefin layers. The antistatic layer includes a (i) conductive agent, preferably a combination of an alkali metal salt and a polymerized alkylene oxide, (ii) a positively charged colloidal oxide sol and (iii) a film forming binder which is an interpolymer of a primary amine addition salt with a peel strength of 200 g or above on the polyolefin surface on which the antistatic layer of the present invention is to be formed. The antistatic layer is expected to provide surface electrical resistivity of less than 12 log .OMEGA./, preferably equal to or less than 11 log .OMEGA./, and excellent backmark retention characteristics and spliceability for commercial photofinishing equipment such as the Gretag CLAS 35 printers.
