The apparatus includes a muffler arrangement having an exhaust inlet and an exhaust outlet in construct and arrange for sound attenuation therein. The apparatus also includes a catalytic converter arrangement positioned within the muffler arrangement. During operation, the exhaust flow is directed both through the muffler arrangement and the catalytic converter arrangement, to advantage.

The mounting band includes a continuous, arcuate metallic strap having first and second ends. The metallic strap is positioned in extension circumferentially around the muffler. The first and second ends of the metallic strap are welded to one another to retain the metallic strap as a continuous band around the muffler. The hanger is secured to a continuous portion of the metallic strap. The hanger is centered radially along the strap, at a location about 150.degree.-210.degree. from the weld of the strap ends.

摘要： A muffler (10) for reducing the noise level of gases passing therethrough is disclosed. The muffler (10) includes a housing (12) including a longitudinally extending wall (14) and a pair of opposite end walls (16, 18). Baffle plates (32, 38, 42) divide the interior space of the housing (12) into a Helmholtz resonator chamber (34), a flow chamber (36), an inlet broad band attenuator chamber (40) and an outlet broad band attenuator chamber (44). An inlet tube (20) extends through an inlet port (21) in the end wall (16), through a hole (48) in the baffle plate (38) and through a hole (50) in the baffle plate (32). An outlet tube (22) passes through an outlet port (23) in the end wall (18), through a hole (52) in the baffle plate (42) and through a hole (54) in the baffle plate (32). Exhaust gases enter the muffler (10 ) through the inlet tube (20), pass through holes (62) into the flow chamber (36) and exit the muffler (10) through the outlet tube (22). Broad band attenuation of noise being carried by the exhaust gases occurs in the inlet and outlet attenuation chambers (40, 44) and in a nozzle member (80). Narrow band noise attenuation occurs in the Helmholtz resonator chamber (34).

The pulse cleaner also includes a pulse generator for generating pulses that are each directed at a majority of a face of the diesel exhaust treatment device when the diesel exhaust treatment device is mounted at the diesel exhaust treatment device mount. The pulse generator includes a pressure tank for accumulating pressurized air, and a valve arrangement that flushes the pressurized air from the tank. A pulse of air for cleaning the diesel exhaust treatment device is generated each time the tank is flushed.

摘要： A conical filter device inserts into a duct having flow passing from upstream to downstream. The filter device includes fluted filter media having flutes formed therein and a housing. The filter forms a seal between the outer edge of the filter at the downstream side and the housing. The upstream face of the filter is conical shaped in a first embodiment and frusto-conical in a second embodiment with the housing roughly corresponding to the shape of the filter. The filter elements are formed by winding layers of filter media to form a circular cross-section. The elements are moved axially as they are wound or placed on a shaping form while the sealant is still pliable to shape the element.
