The second roller ring cooperates with the first roller ring and defines a bore hole of a predetermined diameter. A conical bushing is provided for supporting the second roller ring in the other cylinder and is axially movable with respect thereto so as to adjust the distance between the two cylinder axes. The conical bushing has a largest diameter which is still smaller than the diameter of the bore hole.

    • In a method for monitoring a stationary condition of a drive device, a monitoring device provides the drive device with a temporally varying monitoring signal which, when a sensor device connected to the drive device functions properly, modulates a sensor output signal of the sensor device in accordance with the monitoring input signal. The monitoring device receives the sensor signal and monitors it for the presence of a corresponding signal component. In the absence of such a signal component, the monitoring device controls a safety device which converts the drive device into a safe state. When the drive device is controlled by means of at least two phase-shifted current regulators, it is possible for the monitoring device to monitor an output signal of at least one of the current regulators for constancy and to control the safety device when the output signal of the at least one current regulator changes.

    • A process for regenerating an adsorbent made of active carbon or aluminum oxide is characterized by resizing an undersized fraction of adsorbent before a regeneration process to maintain a given nominal particle size of adsorbent in an adsorber. In the regeneration process, adsorbent discharged from the adsorber is drained of waste water by feeding the adsorbent onto a screen and obtaining therefrom a first adsorbent fraction consisting of particles with a given nominal particle size and an undersized second adsorbent fraction consisting of particles greater than 10% of the given nominal particle size. The first adsorbent fraction is fed into a fluidized-bed oven for regeneration. The undersized second adsorbent fraction is fed into a processing plant for processing to define the desired given nominal particle size. The processed adsorbent particles and the regenerated adsorbent particles are returned to the adsorber. A further embodiment of the invention provides that the regenerated and processed adsorbent particles are fed onto a pair of superimposed screens for separation so that only particles having a size greater than 50% of the given nominal particle size are returned to the adsorber while the remaining adsorbent particles are subdivided into parts consisting of particles having a size greater than 15%, but less than 50%, of the given nominal particle size which are fed directly to the processing plant and a second part consisting of dust-like particles, less than 15% of the given nominal particle size, admixed with the conveying water. The aqueous mixture of dust-like adsorbent particles is fed to a separator for removing water therefrom which is returned to the adsorber. The dust-like particles are fed to the processing plant for providing the desired particle size.

    • A field device having an analog output, i.e., a measuring transducer, for process instrumentation having a 4-20 mA interface as the analog output. For digital-to-analog conversion, a digital value is split into a digital coarse portion and a digital fine portion. Depending on the digital coarse portion, a first analog signal is generated using a pulse width modulator having a downstream mounted low path filter and a signal above the analog output signal, and a second output signal using a pulse width modulator also having a downstream mounted low path filter with a signal below the analog output signal. The analog signals are supplied to a third pulse width modulator controlled with the digital fine portion, where a low-pass filter (TP3) is downstream mounted. As a result, an analog output signal is provided having a high resolution and good dynamic properties. In addition, the field device is provided with a digital-to-analog converter that can be produced having minimal complexity.
