    • In a signal receiving circuit of a direct conversion system applied with a semiconductor integrated circuit for radio communication having a PLL requiring a clock signal, an LNA requiring low-noise receiving characteristics, and others, a variable coupling line is provided between clock signal buffers and at an input stage of the PLL, so that coupling between the variable coupling line and an input terminal of the LNA and coupling between the variable coupling line and a GND terminal of the LNA are made equal to each other at frequencies of higher harmonic waves of a clock signal. When the input terminal and the GND terminal of the LNA are excited at the same phase, since no output occurs at an output terminal of the LNA, an output of the LNA does not contain any higher harmonic wave of a clock signal.

    • A wireless communication system uses a transmission power detection circuit. The transmission power detection circuit has excellent linearity of detection output for transmission output power and can obtain detection output not having temperature dependence. The transmission power detection circuit has rectifying detection part that includes plural amplifiers connected in series and obtains detection output by taking out rectified outputs from emitters of input transistors of amplifiers of individual stages and synthesizes them. A compensation voltage generating circuit has a dummy amplifier having a construction similar to the amplifiers constituting the rectifying detection part and a coefficient circuit that changes output of the dummy amplifier at a specified ratio, and generates voltage for compensating temperature characteristics. Also included is an addition/subtraction circuit that obtains detection output free of temperature dependence by subtracting compensation voltage generated in the compensation voltage generating circuit from output voltage of the rectifying detection part.

    • An automatic gain controlling circuit and a high-definition television signal receiving apparatus includes an input terminal for receiving a signal including first and second signal components creating interference, a first automatic gain controlling amplifier for amplifying the received signal and providing an amplified output signal, a filter for selectively passing a signal portion in a predetermined band of the amplified output signal from the first automatic gain controlling amplifier, and a second automatic gain controlling amplifier for amplifying the signal portion passed by said filter and providing amplified output signal portion. There is also provided a switching signal generator responsive to one of the amplified output signal and the amplifier output signal portion for generating a switching signal, a switching circuit at least being responsive to the switching signal for at least controlling supply of a gain control signal to the first and second automatic gain controlling amplifiers in accordance therewith, and an automatic gain control signal detector for detecting the amplified output signal for supplying an output indicative thereof to the switching circuit.
