When buying the book(s), a reader obtains in an IC card 4 owned by her/him a purchase certificate(s) of that book(s) which she/he bought, from the bookstore terminal 2. When ordering to obtain the electronic book(s), the reader transmits the purchase certificate(s) from a reader terminal device 3 to the electronic book management system 1 through a communication network 5. The electronic book management system 1 changes over it's service when supplying the electronic book(s) to that reader depending upon the existence of the purchase certificate(s).

摘要： In the handheld terminal device, when a message reception unit receives from a host computer a new arrival message indicating a new arrival of a file (or electronic mail), a control unit analyzes the new arrival message to obtain identifier information for identifying the file (or electronic mail) and a telephone number of the host computer. After a line connection to the host computer is established by a handheld phone transceiver unit, a fetch request command for fetching the file (or electronic mail) is transmitted to automatically fetch the file (or electronic mail) from the host computer and make the user know the contents of the file (or electronic mail) by using a display unit. A FAX transmitting user designates a destination handheld terminal device and transmits FAX image data to a communication server (CS). CS stores the received FAX image data and transmits a FAX arrival message to a pager connected to the destination handheld terminal device. A user of the handheld terminal device informed of a FAX arrival by the pager confirms the FAX brief image data contained in the message, and if necessary, calls CS by a handheld phone connected to the handheld terminal device to make CS transmit the FAX image data and refer to the detailed contents thereof.

摘要： A graphic system which includes a display device having a graphic display area which includes a plurality of display portions and a plurality of one-chip semiconductor integrated circuit devices. Each one-chip semiconductor integrated circuit includes memory for storing a plurality of pixel data, each pixel data includes a plurality of bits and color data, and a logic circuit for carrying out logic operation on a unit of one pixel data read out from the memory based on a function signal supplied to the one-chip semiconductor integrated circuit device. The function signal indicates a relation between the unit of one pixel data read out from the memory and pixel data output by the logic circuit. The invention further includes an external device for supplying the function signal to the one-chip semiconductor integrated circuit device. The logic circuits, of the plurality of one-chip semiconductor integrated circuit devices, each carry out the same logic operation in accordance with the function signal. Further the logic circuit of the one-chip semiconductor integrated circuit device outputs pixel data based on the logic operation carried out by the logic circuit so as to display the pixel data from the logic circuit on one of the display portions of the graphic display area of the display device.

The documentation system further includes a unit for executing programs to make the display unit to display thereon the document data within a region, a unit for executing a manage program for controlling activation of the edition processing program executing unit and activation of the display program executing unit, and a message transfer unit for transferring messages between the edition processing program executing unit and the manage program executing unit. The extra-region indicating message is transferred to the manage program executing unit which responds thereto by activating the edition processing program for the document data in the second region.

The memory unit has print request blocks each for storing information necessary for printing a document, and an area for storing a print queue for defining the print execute order of the print request blocks. The processing unit executes a print request program through which a print request provided by the operator is set together with necessary information in the print request block and the print request block is added to the print queue, a print execute program through which information stored in the print request blocks is fetched sequentially in the order of registration of the print request block in the print queue and the printer is controlled for printing operation on the basis of the information, a printing status operating program through which the contents of the print queue are displayed on the display unit, the print request block is removed from the print queue and the order of the print request blocks in the print queue is changed in conformity to instructions given by the operator, and a system management program through which those programs are activated for controlling the printing operation.
