    • A sewing machine operating device includes a plurality of operating members configured to be operated by a user with his/her foot, the operating members having respective detectors which each detect an action of the foot in a contact or non-contact manner and include at least two detectors mounted so as to be opposed to each other while the foot placed on the base is interposed between the detectors from sides of the foot, a signal output unit configured to generate an operation signal according to operation of each operating member and deliver the operation signal via a connecting mechanism to the sewing machine body, and a position adjusting mechanism configured to change a position of at least one of the operating members mounted on the base, the position adjusting mechanism including a distance adjusting mechanism adjusting a distance between the at least two detectors in an increasing or decreasing direction.

    • The disclosure presents an embroidery data processing device and a computer program product capable of tearing off an elastic sheet easily after an item of embroidery has been sewn, thus enhancing working efficiency. A CPU extracts a contour line from needle drop points PN (N=1, 2, . . . , n) stored in embroidery data (S1 to S3). When the CPU judges that each needle drop point QN on the contour line is separated from an adjacent needle drop point Q (N+1) by more than a specified distance, the CPU forms needle drop points between adjacent needle drop points QN and, Q (N+1) separated from each other by more than a specified distance, reads out from a ROM tearing stitch data for forming a stitch of satin stitching different in stitch width in an inside direction of an embroidery region, and adds the tearing stitch data to the embroidery data so that a sewing sequence of stitches of satin stitching is ahead of a sewing sequence of stitches of the embroidery pattern main body in the embroidery region (Yes at S4 to S6).

    • An embroidery data processor includes: a thinning unit that reduces thickness of lines in the image data to produce thin-line image data including at least one thin-line outline defining a bounded region corresponding to a region of the embroidery pattern; and a bounded region extractor that extracts the bounded region defined by the thin-line outline. Because the bounded region is extracted from data that has been subjected to the thinning processes, no gaps through which the workpiece cloth is exposed will form between outlines and bounded regions sewn based on the data even when outlines are sewn in an extremely narrow width.
