    • A portable computer includes a base unit having a keyboard and a display unit rotatably coupled to the base unit. The display unit is rotatable between a closed position where the keyboard is covered and an open position where the keyboard is exposed. A latch member is provided on the externally exposed area of the display unit and latched to an externally exposed area of the base unit when the display unit is rotated to a closed position. The latch member is so mounted on the display unit as to be rotated toward and away from the display unit. The latch member is normally urged in a direction to rotate into engagement with the base unit under an action of a latching spring. The latching spring maintains the latch member in an engaged relation to the base unit when the display unit is rotated to the closed position.

    • A pocket computer includes a base body having a battery pack storage area with an access opening section defined in the peripheral wall. A battery pack is loaded and unloaded into and out of the battery pack storage area. The battery pack has electrodes and an engaging section provided at its lower wall. Contacts 31 are provided in the battery pack storage area in a manner to contact with the electrodes of the battery pack and to impart a force to the battery pack in a direction to push the battery pack toward the access opening section. Engaging members are provided in the bottom wall of the battery pack storage area to be latched and unlatched to and from the associated engaging section of the battery pack 25. A projection and holding member are provided on the battery pack storage area and battery pack, respectively, to hold the battery pack in the battery pack storage area and release the holding of the battery pack in the battery pack storage area.

    • A compact electronic apparatus includes a housing substantially in the form of a rectangular prism. The top face of the housing includes a substantially rectangular front half portion on which a keyboard unit is mounted and a substantially rectangular rear half portion continuous with the rear face. The housing includes a pair of receiving recess openings to the rear half portion of the top surface and the rear surface. A battery pack and an optional component each having substantially the same shape as their respective recess, are each removably fitted in their receiving recess. The battery pack and optional component each have an outer surface which is exposed to the outside and constitutes part of the rear face of the housing and part of the rear half portion of the top face when the battery pack optional component are fitted in their respective receiving recess.
