    • A fiber-optic measurement device (10) includes a SAGNAC ring interferometer (20) having a proper frequency fp. The aim is to improve response time while maintaining high precision across the measurement range. Biasing elements (130) are used to produce: a first biasing phase-differential modulation component Δφb1(t) (34) which is periodic in time-slots, having levels +π and −π, at a first biasing modulation frequency fb1 such that fb1=(2k1+1) fp, k1 being a natural number; and a second periodic biasing phase-differential modulation component Δφb2(t) (35), having extreme amplitudes +π/a and −π/a, a being a non-zero real number such that |a|>1, at a second biasing modulation frequency fb2 such that fb2=(2k2+1) fp, k2 being a non-zero natural number such that k2>k1. A gyrometer including such a measurement device and a navigation or inertial-stabilization system including at least one such gyrometer are also described.

    • The invention relates to a fibre optic measuring device of the type in which the change in a measured parameter generates a phase difference between two waves in a SAGNAC ring interferometer (2). Electronic means (7) comprise a processing system (9) delivering a signal depending on the measured parameter and electronic means (12) controlling the phase modulator (4). The electronic means (12) produce a control signal for the modulator determined in such a way that the phase difference .delta..PHI..sub.m which it produces between the counter-propagating waves periodically takes the following four successive values: ##EQU1## where .PHI..sub.o is a constant phase shift and it depends on a, and a is a positive constant satisfying the condition: cos .PHI..sub.o =cos a.PHI..sub.o. The gain of the channel for controlling the modulation is kept constant by producing a signal depending on the said gain by exploiting the four values x1, x2, x3, x4 delivered in response to a period of the modulation signal according to the expression (x1+x3)-(x2+x4), the said signal acting on the modulator in such a way as to keep the gain constant.

    • The invention relates to an optical fiber measuring device of the type in which variation of a measured parameter causes a difference of progression of light waves in the optical fiber. Such a device permits measurement of speed of rotation, or of current and magnetic field. The device includes an electronic device for digitally processing a signal indicative of phase shift of one light wave relative to another, the light waves propagating through a preferably monomode optical fiber in a SAGNAC ring interferometer, modulated by a phase modulator. The electronic device includes an analog-digital converter 11, a digital processing system 12 for generating a processor signal reduced to a frequency of modulation around the optical fiber, a control loop digital filter 13 for supplying a parameter indication signal, a register 14 for receiving the parameter indication signal and supplying a register signal which is a function of the measured parameter, an accumulator 15 for generating a digital feedback signal which is a function of the measured parameter, and a digital-analog converter 16 for generating an analog feedback signal for controlling the phase modulator.
