    • A mesh screen of polyester filaments for screen printing is subjected to a treatment with low temperature plasma in an atmosphere of a non-oxidizing inorganic gas to such an extent that a crosslinked layer having a thickness of 0.001 to 0.1 .mu.m is formed on the surface of the polyester filaments and the surface of the filaments is provided with protrusions and concavities having a diameter of 0.01 to 0.1 .mu.m in a distribution density of 1000 to 6000 per .mu.m.sup.2 of the surface area of the filament. The thus treated mesh screen is advantageously improved, with no adverse influences on the mechanical strength, in respect of the adhesion between the filament surface and a photosensitive resin composition applied to the mesh screen for photolithographic patterning. The plasmatreated mesh screen is also advantageous in respect of the decreased resistance against transfer of a printing ink through open meshes.

    • Such food packing materials as heat shrinkable films or such formed containers for food as bottles are manufatured by forming resin compositions of the following compostions: (a) 100 weight parts of vinyl chloride based resin obtained by adding 0.005 to 0.5 weight parts of partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol, degree of saponification 20-55 mol %, means degree of polymerization 150-600, to 100 weight parts of loaded vinyl chloride monomer or a mixture of vinyl based monomer with vinyl chloride as main, during suspension-polymerizing in an aqueous medium under the existence of 0.03-0.08 weight parts of partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol, degree of saponification 65-80 mol %, means degree of polymerization 600-1000, or else in slurry after completion of the suspension-polymerizing: (b) 0.3 to 5 weight parts of non-toxic stabilizer for food which is a liquid composite stabilizer; and (c) 4 to 15 weigth parts of butadiene-styrene based copolymer resin. The food packing materials are resistant to whitening of their surface caused either by contact with water, alcohol, aqueous water of alcohol or incubation for prolonged time under a high temperature and high humidity atmosphere, thus enabling an improvement in their quality.

    • A method for preparing vinyl chloride polymers which comprises polymerizing vinyl chloride monomer or a vinylic monomer mixture mainly composed of vinyl chloride in an aqueous medium in the presence of a polymerization initiator, characterized by washing a piping and an opening of a polymerizer, for charging the polymerization initiator into the polymerizer, with water, steam or a washing liquid capable of lowering the half-life of the polymerization initiator to not more than 30 minutes after introducing the initiator into the polymerizer. The method makes it possible to eliminate the formation of polymer scales on the piping and the opening for charging the polymerization initiator into a polymerizer and, therefore, the yield of the vinyl chloride polymers can greatly improved and the production cost can be substantially saved. Moreover, the polymer product does not include any materials used for washing said portions and thus polymer product of high quality can be provided in a high yield.

    • The invention discloses a method for counting foreign matter particles in a vinyl chloride resin powder comprising the steps of: forming an aqueous dispersion of the resin particles in a vessel having a transparent bottom, allowing the particles to settle forming a layer together with the foreign matter particles and viewing the layer of the deposited particles through the transparent bottom of the vessel to count the foreign matter particles in the deposited layer. The invention also provides an apparatus system for automatically counting foreign matter particles which comprises a vessel having a transparent bottom, a feed means for the resin powder, a water supply means, a stirrer means to form an aqueous dispersion in the vessel, a viewing means such as a CCD camera for recording the bottom image of the deposited layer through the transparent bottom of the vessel, and a control means for bringing the various parts of the system into a sequential linkage motion.
