    • An electrical outlet box optionally having in combination therewith, a connector fitting for connecting a corrugated conduit to the box, the box having a back wall and at least one side wall of synthetic resin. A pressure removable plug is displaced out of the plane of the side wall so as to provide a precisely delineated zone of weakness surrounding the plug. When one preferred type of connector fitting is used in combination with the box, a wedge-shaped end portion of the fitting, having a relatively small surface area, is manually pressed against the pressure removable plug along a pressure zone immediately radially inwardly from the zone of weakness. This pops the plug out of the wall of the box, leaving a neat, smooth hole into which the connector fitting may be inserted by continued manual pressure applied thereto. The connector fitting includes an expandable cylindrical body portion, and further includes an external circumferential groove at the intersection of the cylindrical body portion with the wedge-shaped end portion. The edge of the wall which defines the opening formed on removal of the plug snaps into this groove to interlock the connector fitting in the wall of the box.

    • A spring fastener or clip of generally V-shaped configuration and including a first, substantially monoplanar leg joined to a second, substantially monoplanar leg through a bend portion so that the legs define between them an acute angle from about 43.degree. to about 48.degree.. The second leg has a circular aperture formed through a central portion, and the first leg has a tongue or tine pressed out of a central portion of the first leg and projecting generally toward the center of the aperture in the second leg, and at an acute angle of from about 22.degree. to about 28.degree. to the plane of the first leg. The tongue projects a distance from the plane of the first leg, as measured normal to that plane, and so as to include the thickness of the first leg, which is from about one-half to about two-thirds of the total distance of projection of the bend portion of the fastener from the plane of the first leg, also as measured normal to the plane of the first leg, and so as to include the thickness thereof.The invention also includes and relates to fasteners of the type described in combination with a synthetic resin box which has an open side, and which has a cover plate secured across the open side of the box by the use of said fasteners and screws. The box carries a plurality of the fasteners having the first described leg of each pressed into an accommodating slot in the box adjacent the open side thereof. The box further defines an elongated screw-accommodating passageway adjacent each of the slots, and extending parallel to the respective slot and to the first leg of the respective fastener when placed in its respective slot. A second leg of each fastener extends across the respective adjacent screw-accommodating passageway formed in the box, and has the centrally located circular aperture therethrough generally aligned with the screw-accommodating passageway axis, although the center of the circular aperture is slightly offset with respect to the axis of the screw-accommodating passageway axis.

The second leg of each fastener extends across the respective adjacent passageway at an acute angle to the axis of the respective passageway, and has the centrally located circular aperture therethrough aligned with the passageway axis.

    • Apparatus for cutting a conduit or tubular element transversely to the longitudinal axis thereof which includes a base having a housing projecting vertically therefrom. The housing includes opposed, substantially parallel side plates separated by a vertical slot at their upper ends, and by a mechanism chamber at their lower ends. A blade element is pivotally supported between the parallel side plates, and carries a plurality of ratchet teeth along the lower peripheral edge, and a cutting edge disposed at the opposite side of the blade element from the ratchet teeth. Between the teeth and cutting edge, the knife element has an elongated, arcuate slot formed therethrough. An operating handle is pivotally connected to the housing at a side thereof spaced from the pivotal axis of the blade element. A pawl lever is pivotally connected to the operating handle and has a dog thereon positioned to ride over and operatively engage the ratchet teeth as the operating handle is pivoted. An elongated indexing link is pivotally connected at one end to the pawl lever and carries a stud at its other end which rides in the arcuate slot in the blade element. A conduit supporting jaw is mounted at the upper side of the housing, and defines an arcuate recess dimensioned to support a conduit to be cut by the apparatus.

    • A clamping device comprising an elongated wedge body having a bifurcated end, and a second end opposite the bifurcated end. The wedge body is of substantially rectangular transverse cross-sectional configuration, and is relatively thick at the second end, tapering to a relatively thin dimension at the bifurcated end. The wedge body has first and second sides extending between its bifurcated and second ends. Each of these sides carries a plurality of longitudinally spaced, contiguous teeth or serrations over a major portion of its length. The bifurcation in one end of the wedge body defines a pair of spaced, substantially parallel legs, which legs have continuations of the teeth or serrations extended along one side thereof, and are relatively smooth on the opposite side thereof. In a useful combination, the clamping device retains an electrical conductor in place at the location where it enters a knock-out window in a synthetic resin electrical box. The clamping device is wedged between the conductor and the portion of the box which defines the window so that the serrations carried on opposite sides of the wedge body engage, respectively, the synthetic resin of the box and the insulating jacket of the conductor to firmly clamp the conductor in position.

    • The combination of a spring metal retainer ring with a pipe or conduit fitting having an annular seat for accommodation of the retainer ring, and further having a cylindrical passageway therein coaxial with the ring for receiving a pipe or conduit through the ring. The retainer ring includes an annular band which has a plurality of circumferentially spaced tabs projecting radially outwardly at an obtuse angle with respect to the plane of the band and projecting axially with respect to the axis of the band. The retainer ring further includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced, radially inwardly directed tabs connected thereto, and extending in the opposite axial direction from the direction of axial extension from the band of said first mentioned tabs.
