    • An orthogonal electromagnetic seal for an oven that heats items through the use of microwave energy is set forth. The oven has a cavity in which the items are to be placed, an opening to the cavity, and peripheral surfaces that surround the opening to the cavity. One of the peripheral surfaces is orthogonal to the other peripheral surfaces. The electromagnetic seal includes a choke panel, a plurality of tabs, and a choke ring. The choke panel is aligned with and has generally the same shape as the opening. The plurality of tabs extend from a periphery of the choke panel. A first set of the plurality of tabs is generally parallel to the orthogonal peripheral surface. The remaining tabs are parallel with the other peripheral surfaces. Each of the plurality of tabs is positioned between the associated peripheral surface and the choke ring. A choke cavity adjacent to each peripheral surface is defined by the choke ring, the choke panel, and the adjacent peripheral surface. The choke cavity reflects energy propagating in a direction parallel to the adjacent one of the peripheral surface and suppressing energy propagating in a direction transverse to the adjacent one of the peripheral surfaces.

    • First and second humidifiers (10,100) and methods for humidifying air are disclosed. The first humidifier (10) comprises a spray apparatus (16) in a housing (12) which sprays a mist of water droplets onto a mist eliminator (20) to intercept the mist of water droplets. The mist of droplets is captured in a liquid phase by the mist eliminator (20) and is substantially completely converted into a vapor phase in the form of increased humidity in the air stream. A humidity sensor (38) located downstream of the mist eliminator (20) senses the humidity of the stream of air. A controller controls the quantity of water sprayed in response to the humidity sensed to maintain a predetermined humidity in the humidified stream of air. The second humidifier (100) includes a heater (122) which creates a region of intense heat (124) to instantaneously evaporate water mist directed thereon in a stream of air. The first method includes spraying droplets of water and intercepting and evaporating the droplets by a mist eliminator (20) made of elongated interlaced monofilaments to humidify a stream of air. The second method includes spraying water droplets directly in a region of intense heat, such as a flame (124) to instantaneously evaporate water droplets.

    • The invention is directed to an oven, and in particular, a microwave oven, having an oven cavity, two doors disposed on opposite sides of the oven cavity, and a conveyor belt passing through the oven cavity and the two doors. The two doors are preferably mechanical in design and may be operated simultaneously or in sequence. The two doors may be independently interlocked and also interlocked with each other to prevent operation of the microwave oven when either door is in an opened position. Each door may be mounted in slide rails disposed along the side of the oven cavity. The opening and closing of the two doors are preferably controlled by a programmable logic center.

    • The inventive pressure die holder is comprised of an elongate hollow steel cylinder which receives a series of dies in an interior cavity. The dies are maintained within the cavity by means of a cap which is attached to one end of the pressure die holder. The inventive pressure die holder is provided with two sets of vents which relieve lubricant pressure within the pressure die holder. The first set of vents are located in mid portion of the body of the pressure die holder in alignment with the dies. The first set of vents reduce pressure between the die pair, allowing the lubricant to flow through the die at a cooler temperature. The second set of vents are located in the body of the pressure die holder adjacent the cap, and allow the cap to be removed from the pressure die holder at the end of the drawing operation.
