    • A guiding method and apparatus are presented for preventing the generation of lateral curving in a rolled slab produced in a roughing mill train, consisting of an edging mill and a horizontal mill in tandem, for example. The apparatus basically includes a first side guide placed upstream at the entrance to the edging mill, a second side guide placed downstream at the exit of the horizontal mill and a third side guide placed between the edging mill and the horizontal mill. The first side guide at the entrance to the edging mill synchronously closes the separation distance of the guide components upon the entry of the rolled slab into the first side guide, leaving a narrow space between the guide and the rolled slab. The third side guide closes the separation spacing based on slab exit timing representing the instant the tail end of the rolled slab passes through the edging mill. The second side guide assumes a narrow separation distance when the head end of the rolled slab enters therebetween. The restraining force provided by the narrow separation distance prevents lateral shifting to occur during the rolling process thereby reducing snaking of the rolled slab.

    • Strip material is fed to a reduction rolling mill by a steering device in the form of a pinch roll stand comprising pinch rolls to which strip gripping forces are applied by hydraulic cylinder units located at the ends of the pinch rolls. A reduction mill is similarly provided with a pair of hydraulic cylinder units which are independently operable to vary the pressure applied by the reduction rolls across the strip. Sensors sense the position of the strip at a first location in advance of the pinch rolls and a second location in advance of the rolling mill. This output of sensors is fed to a controller which controls operation of both sets of hydraulic cylinder units to steer the strip.

    • In order to implement handover to a femto cell without making any modification to UEs, a gateway (50) relays traffic between a core network (60, 70) and a plurality of base stations (20_1-20_4) that are respectively incorporated into the core network (60, 70) through a public network. The gateway (50) generates an RRC Connection Release message for prompting establishment of a new RRC connection, when it is notified from the core network (60, 70) that a mobile station (10) is handed over to any one of the plurality of base stations (20_1-20_4). Then, the gateway (50) causes the core network (60, 70) to instruct a control device (40), which has established an RRC connection to the mobile station (10), to transfer the RRC Connection Release message to the mobile station (10).

Thus, a defective winding shape can be suppressed.
