    • A variable capacity rotary compressor, which is designed to make an internal pressure of a compression chamber, where an idle rotation is executed, be equal to an outlet side pressure of the rotary compressor, thus minimizing a rotating resistance. The compressor includes a housing partitioned into two compression chambers having different capacities by a partition plate. A rotating shaft rotates in the compression chambers. Two eccentric units are mounted to the rotating shaft to be placed in the compression chambers, and execute a compression rotation and an idle rotation according to a rotating direction of the rotating shaft. A pressure control unit functions to apply the pressure of the outlet side of the compressor to the compression chamber which executes the idle rotation. The pressure control unit includes a path control channel which is vertically provided through the partition plate to be placed at a position outside the compression chambers. Two valve seats are seated in opposite ends of the path control channel. A valve member is movably set in the path control channel. A communicating path is provided through the partition plate to make the outlet side communicate with the path control channel. Two inlet channels are provided at predetermined positions of the housing to make the path control channel communicate with the compression chambers.

    • A mobile terminal device and method are provided for displaying remaining battery capacity. The device and method comprise internal and external batteries installed on the mobile terminal, a display unit displaying remaining battery capacity, a battery detecting unit identifying whether the external battery is additionally installed, a remaining battery capacity measuring unit measuring total recharged voltage of the internal and external batteries and a control unit displaying the total remaining battery capacity on the display unit corresponding to the measured total recharged voltage. Accordingly, a user may identify installation of the external battery more easily and avoid confusion due to rapid display changes in remaining battery capacity displayed as a recharged voltage difference between the internal and external batteries.

    • Provided are a passive optical network system and a method of transmitting a broadcasting signal in the same system. A central office (CO) generates a broadcasting signal and a downstream optical data signal using a coding method guaranteeing a run-length, multiplexes the downstream optical data signal and the broadcasting signal, and transmits the multiplexed downstream optical data signal and broadcasting signal. A remote node (RN) transmits the multiplexed downstream optical data signal and broadcasting signal received from the CO to one or more optical network units (ONUs). A gain medium, which is located on a transmission line between the CO and the RN, amplifies the broadcasting signal using the downstream optical data signal as a pump light source. Accordingly, a high gain can be obtained by amplifying the broadcasting signal using the gain medium located on the transmission line without a separate pump light source.

    • Provided are a speech restoration system and method for concealing packet losses. The system includes a demultiplexer that demultiplexes an input bit stream and divides the input bit stream into several packets; a packet loss concealing unit that produces and outputs a linear spectrum pair (LSP) coefficient representing the vocal tract of voice and an excitation signal corresponding to a lost frame, when a packet loss occurs; and a speech restoring unit that synthesizes voice using the packets input from the demultiplexer, outputs the result as restored voice, and synthesizes voice corresponding to a lost packet using the LSP coefficient and the excitation signal input from the packet loss concealing unit and outputs the result as restored voice when the lost packet is detected, wherein the packet loss concealing unit repeats linear prediction coefficients (LPCs) of a last-received valid frame, produces a first excitation signal for the lost frame using a time scale modification (TSM) method, when the lost frame is voiceless, and produces a second excitation signal by re-estimating a gain parameter based on the first excitation signal, when the lost frame is voiced.
