    • A liquid developer for use in electrophotography is disclosed which is prepared by dispersing a toner consisting essentially of a pigment or dye and a resin in a carrier liquid having a high insulating property and a low dielectric constant, wherein said resin is a nonaqueous dispersed resin obtained by effecting, in a nonaqueous solvent comprising an aliphatic hydrocarbon, the steps of:(a) copolymerizing (1) a monomer A having the general formula I: ##STR1## [wherein R is H or --CH.sub.3, and A is --COOC.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 or --OC.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 (n is an integer of 6 to 20)] with (2) a polyfunctional monomer having two or more double bonds and (3) a monomer B having a glycidyl group or a vinyl monomer C having a carboxyl group,(b) esterifying the resulting copolymer with the monomer C when the monomer B was used in the step (a) and with the monomer B when the monomer C was used in the step (a) respectively, and(c) grafting the resulting esterified copolymer with a monomer D selected from the group consisting of compounds having the general formula II: ##STR2## [wherein R is the same as previously stated and Z is --COOC.sub.m H.sub.2m+1 (m is an integer of 1 to 4), --OCOC.sub.m' H.sub.2m'+1 (m' is an integer of 1 to 6), ##STR3## (m is the same as previously stated), --COOH, --COOC.sub.2 H.sub.4 OH or ##STR4## styrene, vinyl acetate, vinyltoluene, chlorostyrene, vinylpyrrolidone and vinylpyridine.

    • A liquid developer for use in electrophotography which is prepared by making a carrier liquid comprising a non-aqueous solvent having a highly insulating property and a low dielectric constant contain a coloring agent and a resin dispersed therein, characterized in that said resin contains the following components (A) and (B):(A) a polymer comprising at least one kind of resin having an acetone tolerance value of 100-5000 and at least one kind of monomer capable of dissolving said resin, and(B) a non-aqueous type thermoplastic resin obtained by esterifying a copolymer obtained from a monomer having the general formula I ##STR1## [wherein R is --H or --CH.sub.3 and X is --COOC.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 or --OC.sub.n H.sub.2n+1 (6.ltoreq.n.ltoreq.20)], and any one of a monomer having a glycidyl group, an unsaturated carboxylic acid and its anhydride, with said unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride when said copolymer has the glycidyl group as the constitution unit and with the monomer having the glycidyl group when the copolymer has the unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride as the constitution unit; and further graft-polymerizing the unsaturated portion of the resulting esterification product with at least one member of monomers having the general formula II ##STR2## [wherein R is --H or --CH.sub.3 and Y is --COOC.sub.n' H.sub.2n'+1 (1.ltoreq.n'.ltoreq.4), --OCOC.sub.m H.sub.2m+1 (1.ltoreq.m.ltoreq.6), ##STR3## and the general formula III ##STR4## [wherein R is --H or --CH.sub.3, and Z is --COOCH.sub.2 CH--N (C.sub.n" H.sub.2n"+1).sub.2 (1.ltoreq.n".ltoreq.5), --COOH, --COOC.sub.2 H.sub.4 OH or ##STR5##
