    • An electronic timepiece including a dividing circuit for developing different output pulse signals having different respective pulse repetition rates, a stepping motor and a drive circuit responsive to control signals for driving the stepping motor at a normal rate and for applying a correction pulse to the stepping motor according to the control signals. A pulse combining circuit combines the different output pulse signals from the dividing circuit for generating control signals and for applying the control signals to the drive circuit. The pulse combining circuit normally generates a control signal effective to drive the stepping motor at a normal rate, and the pulse combining circuit is responsive to a correction signal to control the drive circuit to apply a corrective pulse to the stepping motor. A detection circuit detects rotation and non-rotation of the stepping motor rotor and generates a detection voltage signal indicative of the state of rotation of the rotor. A voltage comparing circuit compares the detection voltage signal with a standard voltage value and applies a correction signal to the pulse combining circuit when non-rotation of the stepping rotor is detected after a drive pulse is applied to the stepping motor.

    • In an electronic timepiece having a stepping motor, a drive pulse is produced for normally driving the motor, a detecting pulse is generated for detecting whether the motor has rotated in response to the last drive pulse and a correction pulse is produced for driving the motor when non-rotation has been detected. A current limiting resistor is disposed in series with the motor for limiting the current thereto and a switching transistor is connected across the current limiting resistor to short circuit same to effect an increase in the current to the motor. During the detecting pulse, the voltage across the current limiting resistor is compared to a predetermined value. If the voltage is above the predetermined value, which indicates that the motor has not rotated in response to the last drive pulse, the switching means is actuated to short circuit the current limiting resistor and the correction pulse is applied to the motor during the resulting increased current condition so that the motor will be enabled to rotate even when a higher torque load is applied thereto. In this way, a decreased amount of current is used during the normal torque loading condition on the motor.

    • An oscillation and dividing circuit having a level shifter for an electric timepiece comprises an oscillating circuit, a multi-stage dividing circuit for dividing the frequency of the oscillating circuit and a delay circuit. The outputs of the dividing circuit and the delay circuit are connected through a NAND circuit to the base of a P-FET of the level shifter circuit. The output of the oscillating circuit is connected through an inverter to one input terminal of the first stage of the dividing circuit and through a second inverter to the other input terminal. The output of one stage of the dividing circuit is connected as a control circuit to the delay circuit, thereby supplying a square wave control signal even if the oscillating circuit produces a distorted signal. The pulse width of the pulse applied to the level-shifter is hence constant in spite of poor functioning of the oscillating circuit and a high output voltage is attained.
