    • A transport system includes a motor for moving the transport appliance and a power supply circuit of the motor. The power supply circuit is connected between the motor and a power source that is limited (Plim) in its dimensioning. An energy storage that is limited (Elim) in its capacity is fitted in connection with the power supply circuit of the motor. The control arrangement includes a determination of the charging status (EQ) of the energy storage; a determination of the movement reference of the transport appliance; and a control of the movement of the transport appliance as a response to the determined movement reference of the transport appliance. The movement reference of the transport appliance is determined on the basis of the amount of energy that can be discharged from the energy storage and/or on the basis of the amount of energy that can be charged into the energy storage as well as on the basis of the travel distance of the transport appliance.

    • A set of elevators includes a plurality of elevators without counterweight, a power supply, and a common control system. The plurality of elevators has a common connection to the power supply. The common control system includes one or more instructions to prevent or delay dispatch of an elevator car stopped at a floor if, at that instant, within a set period of time, or at that instant and within the set period of time, power consumed from an associated electrical network by the set of elevators or fed into the associated electrical network by the set of elevators together exceeds a set value. A method for controlling a set of elevators includes determining whether power consumed together exceeds a set value, and when the power consumed exceeds the set value, then departure of a next elevator car to be dispatched is prevented or delayed.

    • An elevator may include an elevator car, a set of hoisting ropes, a traction sheave, and a compensating device. The set of hoisting ropes may include first and second rope portions. The elevator car may include one or more first diverting pulleys from which the first rope portions extend upward. The elevator car may include one or more second diverting pulleys from which the second rope portions extend downward. The first rope portions may be under a first rope tension. The second rope portions may be under a second rope tension that is different from the first rope tension. The compensating device may act in substantially opposite directions on the first and second rope portions. The compensating device may produce an auxiliary force acting substantially in a same direction as the first rope tension.

    • An elevator may include an elevator car, two or more diverting pulleys on the elevator car, one or more hoisting ropes, a traction sheave, and a compensating device. The hoisting ropes may include first, second, third, and fourth rope portions. The first rope portions may extend upward from at least one diverting pulley and the second rope portions may extend downward from at least one diverting pulley. The first rope portions may be under a first tension caused by the compensating device acting on the third rope portion and the second rope portions may be under a second tension caused by the compensating device acting on the fourth rope portion. The first tension to the second rope tension may be maintained substantially constant and may be independent of a load of the elevator.
