    • A process for producing a highly water-absorptive polymer, which comprises suspending an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble polymerizable monomer and an optional crosslinking agent into droplets in a hydrophobic organic solvent in the presence of a dispersant and a water-soluble radical polymerization initiator, and allowing the water-soluble polymerizable monomer to polymerize in the droplets, wherein the dispersant is a phosphoric ester surface active agent represented by the following general formula [I]: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents an alkyl or alkylaryl group having 8 to 30 carbon atoms, R.sup.2 represents OH group or a group of the formula --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.m --OR.sup.1, and m and n are an integer of 1 to 30, andthe aqueous solution is successively fed to the hydrophobic organic solvent so that the droplets of different polymerization degrees can be present in the solvent.

    • Disclosed is a felt-tipped pen type adhesive applier comprising: a container for adhesive; valve mechanism provided on the container for controllably supplying the adhesive from the container; and a server for receiving the adhesive supplied through the valve mechanism in order to serve the adhesive. The server comprises: a holder covering the outside of the valve mechanism; a member permeable to the adhesive and extending from the inside of the holder to the outside thereof and being axially slidably and fittingly supported by the holder, the permeable member cooperating with the valve mechanism to operate the valve mechanism in response to axial movement of the permeable member; a support for slidably and fittingly supporting the permeable member inside of the holder to facilitate transportation of the adhesive from the valve mechanism to the permeable member; and mechanism for preventing the adhesive from leaking out of the server due to pressure change inside the server. The preventing mechanism includes a pair of notches which are symmetrically formed on the support with respect to the permeable member. Water emulsion adhesive is stored in the container.

    • There is provided a highly water-absorptive polymer composition comprising:(A) 100 parts by weight of a highly water-absorptive polymer having a crosslinked structure, comprising as its constituent a carboxyl group and/or a carboxylate group; and(B) 0.05 to 10 parts by weight of an additive selected from the group consisting of an oxalic acid (salt) compound, a sulfate of a metal selected from titanium, zirconium and vanadium, and a crystalline or noncrystalline, high-purity particulate titania having a mean particle diameter of 1 .mu.m or less, a specific surface area of 10 m.sup.2 /g or more as determined by the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method, and, when crystalline, a crystal structure of a mixed type of rutile and anatase.There is also provided a method for producing a highly water-absorptive polymer having enhanced gel strength, which comprises treating with an alkoxytitanium a highly water-absorptive polymer having a crosslinked structure, comprising as its constituent a carboxyl group and/or a carboxylate group.
