    • An oil sump 1 of an internal combustion engine has a recess 3, into which dips a suction funel 5 of an oil pump. The funnel is spaced slightly from the oil sump floor 7. A honeycomb-shaped insert 8 is positioned in the recess 3 at a slight spacing from the oil sump floor 7. The height b of the insert 8 amounts to a multiple of the spacing a from the oil sump floor and also a multiple of the side length c of the substantially square cross-section of the chambers 11 of the insert 8.     • A fuel injection system for a mixture compressing spark ignition internal combustion engine includes means for injection of fuel into the air intake of the engine. A fuel metering valve dispenses to one or more injection jets a quantity of fuel related to the quantity of air flowing through the intake. An adjustable throttle valve is in the air intake as well as an air flow measuring element which is movable against a restoring force in accordance with the quantity of air flowing through the intake. The measuring element is arranged to actuate a control element of the fuel metering valve. A damping device having a damping element connected to the measuring element is movable to displace fluid between two damping chambers through a throttling passage. One damping chamber is connected to a fuel pump which delivers fuel to the metering valve while the second damping chamber is connected to a discharge port through a thermally controlled outlet valve. A metering trap chamber downstream of the outlet valve is provided with means for emptying the trap chamber after operation.

    • A fuel injection system is provided for a mixture-compressing spark-ignition internal combustion engine having continuous fuel injection into the engine intake manifold, and an adjustable throttle valve in the manifold. A flow sensing element in the intake manifold is arranged to move in accordance with the quantity of air flowing through the manifold to operate a fuel-metering valve for dispensing a quantity of fuel proportion to the quantity of air. A constant pressure valve is arranged to ensure a substantially constant pressure differential across the metering valve. The constant pressure valve has two chambers separated from each other by a movable partition element. A differential pressure regulating valve also has two chambers separated by a movable partition element. The first chamber has a constant pressure valve being subject to the pressure downstream of the metering valve and communicates with a fuel injection nozzle of the engine. The second chamber of the constant pressure valve communicates with the first chamber of the differential pressure regulating valve. The second chamber of the differential pressure regulating valve is subject to the pressure upstream of the metering valve. The two chambers of the constant pressure valve are connected to each other by a passage.

The loading stresses of the springs can be varied according to engine operating parameters and can be adjusted by devices for full load fuel concentration and cold-starting fuel concentration, and also a device responsive to air pressure chambers.
