    • The inventive offering creation and validation (OCAV) component identifies all available resource types contained in a resource catalog, invokes a “get timetable” resource management action for each of those resource types, and finally receives a timetable containing all resource types with their assigned resources and their assigned free, reserved, and used time slots. By using that timetable, the OCAV component generates a new timetable including all resource types with their assigned resources having a common free time slots. Then, the OCAV component invokes a “get cost” resource management action for each resource type in that new timetable and assigns the calculated costs to the respective resource types, resulting in a final timetable. In further step, the OCAV component maps the free resource included in that final timetable to predefined service environments described in the resource catalog, and if the mapping has been successful, creates a list including all predefined service environments including their free time slots and costs. Finally, the OCAV component generates an offering for each of those SEs, assigns a price to each offering which is preferably calculated by certain business rules, and publishes it, preferably in a registry.

    • A method of collecting usage data of an on-demand service provided to a subscriber is disclosed. The method comprises provisioning of a first manageable resource in order to provide the on-demand service to the subscriber, the first manageable resource being associated with at least a first underlying resource, the first underlying resource comprising a first collector for collecting first usage data of the first underlying resource while the on-demand service is provided. Further, a first metering component is instantiated for the first manageable resource and the first metering component is instructed to initiate the retrieval of the first usage data from the first collector prior to the termination of the first metering component and the de-provisioning of the first manageable resource. Additionally, the retrieved first usage data is stored for further evaluation.

    • A method of providing access to Business Applications (BA) executed on a data processing system wherein said BAs offer their services interactively controlled by a multitude of BA panels and wherein said BAs may display succeeding BA panels dependent on user interactions, user specified data and the contents of any kind of data base the BA is operating on. This inventive method consists in two major steps. In a first step the individual panels, the sequence of the panels as they are displayed by the BA and the activities required to launch a BA to display a succeeding panel are described. This step results in a directed graph modelling the spectrum of panel interactions with a BA, called a User Interaction Graph (UIG). By analyzing the UIG the proposed method then generates in a second step procedures, called Transaction Methods (TM). When called, the TM procedures are capable of autonomously executing and controlling the BAs by handling a sequence of BA panels. Based on input parameters passed over to the TMs they autonomously fill the various BA panels with the correct input information, initiate the required activities for traversing through a certain panel sequence and return the output information gathered during its execution.
