    • Raw material nuts may be quenched using an extremely low temperature liquefied gas to produce cracks in the raw material nuts. The cracked raw material nuts may then be crumbled along the cracks to separate the nuts into small nut fragments. After returning the temperature of the nuts to the ambient temperature, additional cracks can be further produced in the nut fragments by quenching the nut fragments. Smaller nut fragments can then be obtained by crumbling along the cracks. Small nut fragments in desired sizes may be obtained by repeating the process of cracking and crumbling as many times as desired. The astringent skin of the nuts may also be peeled off while the small nut fragments are produced.

    • A dressing device for dressing a grinding stone is disclosed. The grinding stone is used for grinding an edge of a glass pane. The dressing device comprises a container in which dressing members are contained and piled. A grooved holding member mounts thereon the container. The holding member includes a front portion projected forward from a front wall of the container and a rear portion projected rearward from a rear wall of the container. The front and rear walls of the container are respectively formed with front and rear openings whose lower peripheries are bounded by a bottom wall of the groove of the grooved holding member. The front opening is so sized to pass therethrough each of the dressing members. A pushing plate is slidably received in the groove of the rear portion of the holding member. The pushing plate is so sized so as to pass through the rear opening. The hydraulically oprated cylinder moves reciprocatively the pushing plate in the along the groove between a position wherein a forward end of the pushing plate is deeply inserted into the container through the rear opening and another position wherein the forward end is drawn away from the container.

    • A mulching mower is provided which is capable of cutting grasses finely without leaving uncut grasses and which is capable of discharging the cut grass clippings onto the cut grass path so as to be evenly dispersed. A pair of cutter blades are arranged to the right and to the left of the mulching mower in a cutter housing which opens downwardly. A guitar-shaped or figure 8 shaped enclosure wall hangs down from an under surface of an upper wall of the cutter housing to completely surround the periphery of the right and left cutter blades along tip end rotation loci of the blades at a slight distance therefrom. The enclosure wall is formed by side wall portions ar right and left outsides of the cutter housing and front and rear enclosure wall portions hang down from the under surface. The cutter blades rotate in opposite directions from each other so that tip ends of the cutter blades move from front to rear at right and left outsides, respectively, of the mulching mower. A plate-like separator member extends from a position on the approximate center of the rear enclosure wall portion to a vicinity of a rotary shaft of the cutter blade which is across the direction of rotation of the cutter blade.

    • An anti-oxidation technique for treating raw foods, such as nuts and seeds, so as to make them oxidation-resistant. In the technique of the present invention, foodstuffs such as nuts, seeds, etc., are heated under pressure in a tightly closed vessel, so that the texture of the raw food materials is slightly softened, and so that the moisture activity value is at the same time adjusted to a value in the polymolecular-layer moisture region of approximately 0.3-0.4. As a result, the water molecules are absorbed on the surfaces of the lipid molecules so that a polymolecular layer of water is formed and strong bonds between the water and proteins act synergistically to prevent penetration of oxygen into the interior texture of the foodstuff, such as nuts, thus conspicuously hindering oxidation.
