    • A V-type engine is constructed so that one bank of cylinders is located rearward, in a longitudinal direction of the engine, relative to the other bank of cylinders so that a space is formed in front of a front surface of a cylinder block of the engine. In the space, a casing or casings for a fluid passage are provided. Supplemental apparatuses, such as a water pump, an alternator, a compressor, and an oil pump, are formed so as to be driven by belts transmitting drive power from a crankshaft of the V-type engine. One of the belts has tension applied to it by a tensioner, which is formed on a bracket. The bracket is fixed to the casing or casings by bolts, which are used for both fixing the casing or casings to the cylinder block and for fixing the bracket to the casing or casings. As a result, both of the bracket and the casing or casings are firmly fixed to the cylinder block within a compact space, even when the tensioner is located far from the front surface of the cylinder block.

    • An air and fuel supply control system for an internal combustion engine comprises a plurality of superchargers including a turbosupercharger, an intake air cutoff valve operative selectively to be open and closed respectively for opening and closing one of separated intake passages in which a compressor of the turbosupercharger is disposed, a cutoff valve controller operative to control the intake air cutoff valve to be closed so that the turbosupercharger is restrained from supercharging the engine when intake air mass flow fed to the engine is to be relatively small and to control the intake air cutoff valve to be open so that the turbosupercharger works for supercharging the engine when the intake air mass flow fed to the engine is to be relatively large, and air flow sensor for detecting intake air mass flow passing through an intake passage from which the separated intake passages are branched, a fuel supply controller operative to control quantity of fuel supplied to the engine in accordance with a detection output obtained from the air flow sensor, and a fuel supply revising device operative to revise the quantity of fuel supplied to the engine when the intake air cutoff valve is caused to be open and closed selectively.

    • A two rotor type rotary piston engine includes an intake system comprised of individual light load intake ports and heavy load intake ports provided in at least one of the intermediate and side housings to open to the respective rotor cavities and adapted to be cyclically closed by the rotors as the rotor rotate, an intake passage including a throttle valve and individual light load and heavy load passages leading respectively to the light load and heavy load intake ports. The light load passages are communicated with each other by a communicating passage downstream of the throttle valve and the heavy load passages are also communicated each other by a further communication passage. The intake port timings and the passage lengths are so determined that pressure resonance effects can be obtained at both medium and high speed engine operations.
