    • A process is described for the production of a carrier web of a spun bond consisting of synthetic polyester filaments having a melting point of more than 230.degree. C and a filament titer of approximately 3 to 15 dtex. To this spun bond, a chemical binder is applied in the form of an aqueous dispersion which is dried at approximately 120.degree. to 220.degree. C. The dispersion consists of(a) 10 to 60% by weight of a copolymer of60 to 90% by weight of styrene,5 to 20% by weight of butadiene,2 to 10% by weight of acrylic acid and2 to 10% by weight of acrylamide,(b) 5 to 30% by weight, calculated on the amount of copolymer, of a melamine formaldehyde precondensate,(c) a catalytic amount of acid catalysts, as well as, optionally,(d) further inert additives.Such a carrier web is characterized bya weight per unit area of approximately 80 to 400 g/m.sup.2A strength, longitudinally, of approximately 30 to 140 daN/5 cm,An elongation at break, longitudinally, of approximately 20 to 50%,A break propagation resistance of approximately 2 to 9 daN,a specific resistance of at least 38 (daN/5 cm) : (100 g/m.sup.2) andA specific elongation, longitudinally, at 180.degree. C and5 daN/5 cm load, of 600% .multidot. g/m.sup.2 maximum.

    • Shaped articles made from expanded minerals obtained by treating a mixture of a hydrophobized expanded mineral and a calcium aluminate with an aqueous solution of aluminum phosphate, and subsequently consolidating it under the action of pressure and heat; the expanded mineral having been hydrophobized with a hydrophobizing agent consisting substantially of(a) a fatty amine of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 -alkyl, preferably C.sub.14 -C.sub.22 -alkyl, C.sub.14 -C.sub.22 -alkenyl or C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 -alkylphenyl, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkenyl, phenyl or benzyl, and n is a number of from 0 to 4;(b) a fatty acid of the formulaR.sub.5 CO(OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.m OH or a fatty alcohol of the formulaR.sub.6 (OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.m OH in which R.sub.5 is C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 -alkyl, preferably C.sub.14 -C.sub.22 -alkyl or -alkenyl, R.sub.6 is C.sub.9 -C.sub.23 -alkyl, preferably C.sub.15 -C.sub.23 -alkyl or -alkenyl, and m is a number of from 0 to 2; and(c) a low molecular weight acid.
