    • An in-vehicle equipment control device includes a force sense imparting type input device mounted on a steering of a vehicle, for remotely operating an in-vehicle equipment mounted on the vehicle according to a predetermined operation route while imparting a force sense, a storage unit for storing an operation route data to conduct an input operation of the force sense imparting type input device with a predetermined operation route, and a control unit for conducting an arithmetic process to transform the predetermined operation route of the force sense imparting type input device based on a rotation angle detection signal which is output in accordance with the rotation of the steering of the vehicle and the operation route data stored in the storage unit, to impart the force sense to the force sense imparting type input device based on a result of the arithmetic process.

    • A touch input device for use with a display that shows a plurality of items. The touch input device is operated by a user to select an item shown on the display. The touch input device includes a sensor having an operation plane for touching by the user with a finger. The sensor generates a sensor signal indicating contact area of the finger with the operation plane. The operation plane is pressed by the finger when the user selects an item from the display. When an increase rate of the finger contact area over a predetermined time period becomes greater than an increase rate threshold, the touch input device determines that the operation plane of the sensor has been pressed by the user to select an item.

    • A data compression method for an image processing system suitable for compressing image data containing a number of all white lines. Concurrently with the writing of a line memory, a circuit detects a set of adjacent all white lines, which are represented by all zeros. When such a set is detected, a special line boundary code and a code indicating the number of lines in the set are inserted into the image data, which is then applied to a compressor. When the compressor detects the special line boundary code, the compressor discards the corresponding image data, and generates an output for the line consisting of only the uncompressed line boundary code.

    • An image processing system for selecting a set of predictors based on characteristics of the data to be compressed. The image processing system includes a predictor stage, having a multiple predictors, in which input image data is conditioned by a predictor as selected from among a set of predictors according to the number of prediction errors. The set of predictors is selected according to a bit pattern of the input image data. The conditioned data is compressed and transmitted to a decompressor where it is decompressed, depredicted, and output in the form of an image. The data compressing system includes circuitry for determining whether input image data is gradation data or text image data, circuitry for applying a boundary code to the image data when the determining means detects a change point where the image data is changed from the text image to the gradation data or from the gradation data to the text data, and a compressor including boundary code detecting circuitry and two predictor sets respectively for the gradation image data and the text image data after detecting a boundary code, the compressor selects the predictor set most suitable for the input image data.
