    • An apparatus holds a feeler gage. The apparatus includes a shaft having an end to which the feeler gage is attached. A fixture aligns the shaft with an opening into which the feeler gage is inserted. The opening may be a gap of a connector. A portion of the shaft is a measuring section having a plurality of markers. The markers are stripes, grooves, or lands on a portion of the shaft. The fixture comprises a channel, sleeve or bearing that guides the shaft onto the fixture. The fixture includes a ridge for insertion of the fixture onto a track. The fixture may have an alignment arm that engages a side surface of the connector. The fixture has a latch that attaches the fixture to the track. The latch of the fixture comprises two substantially parallel elongate members separated by a distance approximately equal to a width of the track. The feeler gage may be attached to the shaft by a clamp that allows any of a plurality of feeler gages to be detachably mounted, the plurality of feeler gages including gages having respectively different shapes and sizes. Alternatively, the assembly may include a plurality of shafts, each shaft attached to a respective feeler gage having a respectively different dimension, such that only one of the plurality of shafts is received by the track at any one time.

    • An apparatus is disclosed for woodworking and like applications to clamp structural members in abutting relation by initial formation of a pair of recesses in the structural members on a common imaginary line perpendicular to the intended joint line. The clamping apparatus has two clamping members each having an outwardly projecting engagement portion configured to fit securely in the recesses and a clamping mechanism actuable to move the clamping members and their engagement portions toward and away from one another for clamping movement along a clamping line coinciding with the imaginary line perpendicular to the intended joint line. The clamping apparatus may be used in forming virtually any edgewise abutting joint between respective structural members, e.g., miter joints, butt joints, linear edge joints, and radius edge joints.

    • Described is a machine for pre-gluing raw circuit surfaces of printed circuit boards (P.C. boards) at an adhesive station and properly positioning the P.C. boards at a placement station for placement of leadless electronic components (chips) onto the adhesive. A carousel provides program preselected vertical supply of taped components to a feeder assembly which feeds individual chips onto a nozzle of a turret-type vacuum head at a pick-up station. The turret-type head has four nozzles spaced 90.degree. apart about the central axis of the head. As the turret is rotated, a chip is transported by a nozzle, sequentially, from the pick-up station to a centering and testing station, a centering and orienting station, and a placement station. Located between the testing and orienting stations is a chip removal station for ejecting defective or inverted chips. Sensors are located at the adhesive and placement stations to detect defective P.C. boards so that they may be bypassed. A controller, such as a digital computer, provides additional monitoring and controls the operation of the machine.
