    • Methods for assembling a reciprocating body, such as a piston, within a bore using a design are described. The piston is substantially centered within the bore and then connected at one end through a rotational coupling to a substantially laterally fixed structure connected to the bore such that during normal operation the piston can rotate within the bore along the bore axis of symmetry but can no longer move laterally. Before fixing the rotational coupling, the piston is connected to an external gas source and substantially aligned along the bore axis of symmetry by a gas bearing having one or more gas bearing ports disposed toward the bore. During normal operation, the gas bearing provides a rotational force sufficient to realize a non-frictional bearing between the piston and the bore. The method of assembly is particularly useful in the assembly of Stirling cycle cryocooler comprising a piston, a compressor bore, adapted to contain the piston, a gas inlet to the piston, a plurality of gas bearing ports located within the piston and disposed toward the compressor bore, the gas inlet being in fluid communication with the gas bearing ports, a rotational coupling structure attached to one end of the piston, and a substantially laterally fixed structure affixed to the compressor bore and the rotational coupling structure.

    • A method of constructing a band-stop filter comprises designing a band-stop filter including a signal transmission path, resonant elements disposed along the signal transmission path, and non-resonant elements coupling the resonant elements together to form a stopband having transmission zeroes corresponding to respective frequencies of the resonant elements. The method further comprises changing the order in which the resonant elements are disposed along the signal transmission path to create different filter solutions, computing a performance parameter for each filter solution, comparing the performance parameters to each other, selecting one of the filter solutions based on this comparison, and constructing the band-stop filter using the selected filter solution. Another RF band-stop filter comprises resonant elements coupled together to form a stopband, wherein at least two of the resonant elements have third order IMD components different from each other, such that the IMD components are asymmetrical about the stopband.

A number of clips may be used to attach together various parts of an electronic system and housing including circuit devices, enclosure lid and housing, and/or cabling. These clips may be screw-less, may be made of a resilient or spring material, designed so that they quickly snap into place so as to provide good mechanical strength and electrical connection. Various circuit elements may include planar circuits, and may include filters made of a high temperature superconductor material. A planar cable may be used for electrical connecting of components. These systems and devices may be used in, for example, wireless communication systems.

    • An inter-resonator coupling scheme for a filter is disclosed. An inter-resonator coupling member is located between successive resonators in the filter. By adjusting the length and/or the proximity of the inter-resonator coupling member relative to the adjacent resonators, the ratio of energy transferred from resonator to resonator (via the inter-resonator coupling member) may be increased and/or decreased. By increasing the ratio of energy transferred from resonator to resonator, the bandwidth of the filter is increased and is made relatively insensitive to tuning which may occur via manipulation of field disturbances introduced by tuning tips. The inter-resonator coupling member is made of a conductive or superconductive material and contains at least three sections. The first section runs substantially parallel to an edge of the first resonator that is not profoundly influenced by the source of field disturbance. The third section runs substantially parallel to an edge of the second resonator that is not profoundly influenced by the source of field disturbance. A second section connects the first and third sections.
