    • A throttle trigger device for an internal combustion engine of a working tool has a throttle trigger connected to the handle of the working tool so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis. A throttle trigger lock is connected to the handle of the working tool so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis. A spring is connected between the throttle trigger and the throttle trigger lock. The throttle trigger, the throttle trigger lock, and the spring form a unitary part. The spring rests at an abutment of the handle at least when under load such that the spring is divided into functionally independent sections, whereby a first section extends between the abutment and the throttle trigger and a second section extends between the abutment and the throttle trigger lock.

    • A fuel-injection arrangement and a two-stroke engine define a combination for a portable handheld work apparatus such as a motor-driven chain saw or the like. The combination includes a fuel-feed pump for pumping fuel from a fuel tank and a fuel-injection pump for supplying the fuel for injection into the engine. The fuel-feed pump and the fuel-injection pump are mounted in a con, non injection-pump block separate from the engine. The engine has an intake channel through which combustion air is drawn into the engine and the intake channel is configured so as to open directly into the engine. A throttle flap is pivotally mounted in the intake channel as to be completely separate from the common injection-pump block. The injection pump block is effectively thermally decoupled from the intake channel. The danger of vapor bubble formation because of a heating of the injection pump is thereby reliably avoided. A good decoupling of the injection pump from intensely vibrating engine components can also be provided in this manner.

    • The invention is directed to an exhaust gas muffler for an internal combustion engine such as a two-stroke engine for portable handheld tools such as a motor-driven chain saw. The engine includes a cylinder and a piston conjointly defining a combustion chamber wherein combustion gases are generated and discharged as a flow of exhaust gas during operation of the engine. The exhaust gas muffler includes a housing having a shell-like wall defining a chamber for receiving the exhaust gas from the engine. The housing has a primary outlet opening formed in the wall of the housing for passing a primary component flow of the exhaust gas out of the chamber in a first direction. The housing has a secondary outlet opening formed in the wall thereof for passing a secondary component flow of the exhaust gas out of the chamber in a second direction. A guide is provided at the secondary outlet opening for directing the secondary component flow toward and into the primary component flow to break up the latter and cause the same to become turbulent and mix with the cooler ambient air.

    • The invention is directed to a portable handheld work apparatus such as a motor-driven chain saw. The work apparatus includes a housing having a forward end wall, a rearward end wall defining a plane and a top wall extending between the end walls. A handle is mounted on the top wall for holding and guiding the work apparatus. A work tool is arranged on the forward end wall and a drive motor is mounted in the housing for driving the work tool. A holding lug is provided on the rearward end wall and is pivotable between a rest position wherein the holding lug is recessed in a recess formed in the rearward end wall and an in-use position wherein the holding lug is outside of the recess. The holding lug defines an eyelet through which an operator can pass a rope for holding the work apparatus by attaching the same to a belt or the like thereby freeing the hands of the operator. The holding lug does not constitute a disturbance for the operator when supporting the work apparatus on the body with said rearward end wall.

    • The invention is directed to a fuel injection arrangement for two-stroke engines for portable tools such as motor-driven saws. In known fuel-injecting arrangements, the injection pump is driven by the pressure of the crankcase. The crankcase pressure increases up to a maximum value which remains constant starting with a predetermined rotational speed up to and including the maximum rotational speed. When the peak pressure of the crankcase is constant, the stroke of the pump piston of the injection pump is also constant and so is the quantity of fuel which is pumped. However, at higher speeds where the speed is increasing because of throttling in the air intake channel, the air charge of the cylinder reduces and an overrich mixture is formed. The fuel injection arrangement of the invention provides for an automatic reduction in the quantity of fuel injected at high and at the highest speeds. For adapting the required quantity of fuel at high speeds, a counterpressure is developed in the return chamber of the injection pump in dependence upon speed whereby the stroke of the pump piston is reduced. In this way, a corresponding reduction of the pumped quantity of fuel is achieved.
