    • A wall constructed to function as a passive thermal mass for energy storage permits enhanced solar heating and nocturnal cooling of the interior of a building using walls as disclosed. Use of an expansive insulating material, foamed in place, seals the wall to make it waterproof. Concrete masonry units having inner and outer cells are stacked to form the wall. A hardenable material poured into the inner cells of the masonry units moves both vertically and horizontally within the wall to form a rigid wall structure. Introducing insulation in fluid form into the outer cells adjacent to those containing the hardenable material disposes the insulation to lie essentially adjacent the thermal mass of the rigid inner wall structure.

    • A reinforced insulated wall construction having a core of thermal insulation material which is reinforced by high-slenderness-ratio reinforced concrete columns. High compressive and side-load strengths are achieved by centrally supporting reinforcing members in vertical passageways in the core while the remainder of each passageway is filled with a concrete slurry and by so centrally supporting the members until the slurry hardens into concrete. Further side-load strength enhancement may be achieved by encasing at least a central length portion of each concrete column in a high flexural strength structural tubular casing.

    • A new prefabricated wall panel is the basic unit of a new, more efficient and stronger wall system. The wall panel is manufactured from a plurality of foam sections sized to leave vertical and horizontal voids into which concrete is later poured, each foam section having an inner and outer surface and two sides; and a plurality of fastening strips. The fastening strips are longitudinal metal strips being situated between the sides of two foam sections. Each fastening strip has two longitudinal fastening strips projecting perpendicularly to the longitudinal fastening strip and the fastening strips being adjacent to the outer surface of the two foam sections. The fastening strip also has a plurality of clearance holes in the longitudinal fastening strip, a plurality of embed tabs projecting from the edge opposite the fastening strips, each embed tab having at least one hole, and between each pair of embed tabs, a foam tab to hold the two inner sides of the foam sections in place and partially separate the foam sections from the concrete to be poured into a form.

    • The present invention relates to a ecological construction system for buildings with green walls. The system is based on the provision of an integral wall structure, one of the section of which comprises concrete and steel reinforced formwork as the main supporting structure, while the remaining part of the section comprises hollow cavities and arrangements of punched sections on the front or rear surface thereof, with drip-irrigation pipes and nozzles being provided therein. Plastic containers are housed in, and fixed to the punched arrangements distributed on the front or rear wall, which containers form a means for supporting natural or artificial substrates (soil, mineral fibres or wools) and also for the cultivation of plants, a channel being provided in the lower part of the wall structure for collecting, filtering and conveying water to a container for reincorporating said water into the irrigation system. The resulting system allows the growth of plants and vegetation on green walls for construction purposes and can be used on all types of new or existing buildings.
