摘要： According to one embodiment, an insulated structure includes a frame comprising a plurality of wall studs coupled together and a plurality of foam boards attached to the frame to form a continuous insulative wall. A plurality of fasteners attaches the foam boards to the frame. Each fastener includes an elongate shaft and a cap. The elongate shaft is configured to penetrate through a foam board and into a wall stud to couple the components together. The cap is configured to be positioned atop a foam board to distribute a load relatively evenly to the foam board. A sealing tape is applied across seams between adjacent foam boards and over the fasteners' caps to seal the wall. A sealing caulk is applied to secondary fasteners and penetrations to seal the wall. In some embodiments, the structure has a fastener density of about 1 fastener per 243 in2 of foam board.

摘要： A method for attaching interior or exterior surfaces, such as drywall or siding, is disclosed. An integrally insulated concrete wall is described that includes two concrete wythes, insulation sandwiched between the wythes, and connectors that extend through the insulation. At the end of the connector, an anchor is provided. In order to attach a surface such as drywall or siding to the concrete, nails or screws are driven through the surface and into the anchors, thus eliminating the need to construct a frame.

摘要： A wall stud for securing plasterboard to masonry, bricks, blocks and the like, the wall stud comprising a box-like member for receiving fasteners which secure the plasterboard thereto. The box-like member includes inner and outer walls and sidewalls connected together to define the box-like member. The plasterboard is secured against the outer wall in a parallel arrangement therewith. The box-like member is provided with a perpendicularly extending anchor member adapted to be disposed in mortar joints connecting the masonry, bricks, blocks and the like to secure the inner wall there against. The anchor member includes a body portion having an end which is remote from the inner wall. An open area is disposed between the inner wall and the remote end so that mortar can be received therethrough to anchor the remote end when the mortar is hardened. In one embodiment, the anchor member comprises a bent-out tab provided with a punched-out hole therein. In another embodiment, the anchor member comprises a U-shaped wire-like member which encloses an open area.

摘要： A fastening insert for concrete structures comprises a preferably tapered body member formed preferably of inexpensive, high density cellular plastic material which may be either conveniently molded or extruded into the desired shape for attachment to a concrete mold form to provide a readily accessible exposed base for selectively attaching fixtures or the like to the concrete structure after the mold form is removed. Molded through holes or apertured flanges may be provided to accept a nail or the like to secure the body member in position on the mold form during formation of the concrete structure. The base of the body member may be ridged, roughened, apertured, or dimpled to provide a plurality of selectively positioned recesses to aid in initiating the engagement of a threaded fastener therewith. Stabilizing means which may comprise rod-like extensions or flanged collars emanating from the body member may be provided to increase the interengagement between the body member and the surrounding concrete.
