    • A monitoring device for monitoring an individual under investigation comprises a recording device for recording a neuronal signal from the individual, and a calculating device for calculating a parameter representing a quantitative measure of an anaesthesia or coma condition of the individual and being derived from the neuronal signal, wherein the calculating device is adapted for calculating a complexity parameter representing the quantitative measure of the anaesthesia or coma condition, and the calculating device includes a buffer circuit for storing at least one time series of the neuronal signal and an analysis circuit for subjecting the time series to a recurrence quantification analysis (RQA) providing the complexity parameter. Furthermore, a method includes estimating a parameter representing a quantitative measure of an anaesthesia or coma condition of an individual.

    • An ion implanter having a source, a workpiece support and a transport system for delivering ions from the source to an ion implantation chamber that contains the workpiece support. The ion source has an arc chamber for ionizing a source material routed into the arc chamber that defines an exit aperture for routing ions to the transport system and including an arc chamber flange attached to the arc chamber and including a first surface that defines a gas inlet which accepts gas from a source and a gas outlet which opens into the arc chamber. An arc chamber support includes a support flange having a conforming surface that sealingly engages the first surface of arc chamber flange at a region of the gas inlet and further includes a throughpassage that aligns with the gas inlet. A gas supply line routes gas from a gas source through the throughpassage of the support flange and into the gas inlet of said arc chamber flange.

    • An apparatus for the emptying of containers is disposed in the course of a conveyor way for containers loaded with piece goods, in particular with luggage pieces. A branch conveyor for receiving discharged piece goods is following to the emptying apparatus. The emptying apparatus is furnished with support rollers and guide elements for the containers and a tipping device with a swivel drive for the swiveling of the containers perpendicular to the transport advance direction (F) of the conveyor way in direction toward the branch conveyor. In order to obtain an emptying of the container during the transport motion based on a constructively simple structure of the apparatus, the container (3) is essentially constructed to comprise a part (4), formed by a shell-shaped floor (8) for receiving the piece goods (5) and a lower part (6). The lower part (6) includes essentially a planar support face (10) and a member for the transfer of the drive forces of the drive rollers (13) and of the tipping forces of the guide elements (15, 115) to the planar support face (10).

    • An actuator includes a housing and a stationary, annular magnet coil to which a reversible direct current can be supplied. A displacement member which partially surrounds the magnet coil is mounted within the housing so as to be linearly moveable. A first pair of permanent magnets is mounted in the displacement member so as to cover a portion of the coil, wherein the north pole is located above the coil and the south pole is located below the coil. A second pair of permanent magnets is also mounted in the displacement member so as to cover a portion of the magnet coil. The second pair of permanent magnets is arranged diametrically opposite the first pair relative to the magnet coil and the south pole of the second pair is arranged above the magnet coil and the north pole below the magnet coil. Thus, when the magnet coil is excited, the displacement member linearly moves within the housing relative to the stationary coil. At least one connecting piece is attached to the displacement member so as to extend out of the housing.

    • An extruder head for producing profiles of rubber and/or plastic mixtures has a stationay main part which has a forward face in which the discharge ends of at least two extruders, rigid with the stationary main part open. The stationary main part has a transverse pivot shaft at one side of the forward face and, at the side opposite the pivot shaft, an abutment which projects forwardly of the forward face. A movable main part is pivoted, with play, on the pivot shaft and is swingable between a closed position in which it overlies the forward face and an open position. An extrusion die unit is disposed between the outboard end of the movable main part and the abutment. Flow channels between the movable main part and the stationary main part lead from the extruders to the extrusion die unit. Hydraulically operated clamps hold the movable main part in closed position and a hydraulic servo motor exerts on the movable main part a force parallel to the forward face of the stationary main part and directed toward the abutment. In one embodiment, there are two movable main parts pivoted at opposite sides of the stationary main part and having an extrusion die unit between them.
