摘要： A building material includes shives, previously considered to be a waste material. Shives of bast fibers are added to bast fibers and a binder. The shives may contain fibers which are still partially attached to the shives with their natural bond. These partially attached fibers project laterally from the shives in an irregular fashion and are between 2 mm and 100 mm long. The shives and the loose fibers and/or the shives with the partially attached fibers are fed into a coating device for liquid additives and/or into a spreading system for solid additives, and subsequently form a fleece or cake. An air flow may be used for performing a mechanical felting of the fleece. A method and an apparatus for producing the building material are also provided.

摘要： Cellulosic fiber-containing fabrics are made wrinkle resistant by a durable press wrinkle-free process which comprises treating a cellulosic fiber-containing fabric with formaldehyde, a catalyst capable of catalyzing the crosslinking reaction between the formaldehyde and cellulose and a silicone elastomer, heat-curing the treated cellulose fiber-containing fabric, preferably having a moisture content of more than 20% by weight, under conditions at which formaldehyde reacts with cellulose in the presence of the catalyst without a substantial loss of formaldehyde before the reaction of the formaldehyde with cellulose to improve the wrinkle resistance of the fabric in the presence of a silicone elastomeric softener to provide higher wrinkle resistance, and better tear strength after washing, with less treatment.

The substrate has a topography comprising at least two different elevations. The chemical composition may include a chemical softener composition or a surface-active composition and is selectively disposed in register with one of the elevations of the cellulose substrate, preferably the higher elevation regions. The paper structure is suitable for use as bath tissue or facial tissue.

Steps comprise:A. treating fibers with a mordant;B. treatment with a combination of sulfonated or disulphonated surfactant together with a stain resist (e.g., syntan); andC. providing treatment with a fluorochemical in either step A. or B. in an amount sufficient to improve stain resistant properties. The improved method may be undertaken in the liquor remaining in a dye bath after dyeing fiber (spent bath process). Process pH is acid. Advantage: lowers the proportion of stain resist chemical to wool necessary to impart stain resistance. Tip sealing, using polymethacrylic resin and fluorochemical, may be an added step.

摘要： According to the invention, a chemically adsorbed film is formed on an apparel material which has a surface layer containing fluorocarbon groups and a stem which is chemically bonded by --Si-- bonds to the material. A high performance apparel material thus can be provided which retains intrinsic properties of material such as ventilation and aesthetic appearance and is excellently durable and highly water- and oil-repelling and anti-contaminating or excellently durable and highly hydrophilic. The chemically adsorbed film has a very thin surface layer containing fluorocarbon groups, and is thus excellently water- and oil-repelling and anti-contaminating. In addition, since its stem is chemically bonded via --Si-- bonds to the material, it does not separate and is excellently durable. Further, it is very thin and does not adversely effect intrinsic properties of material such as ventilation, color and aesthetic appearance.

摘要： A nonwoven liner for a diskette cartridge is made of hydroentangled fibers and impregnated with a small amount of binder which is uniformly distributed throughout the fabric. The binder comprises no more than 5% by weight and preferably between 1.5-3.0% by weight of the fabric. The low concentration of binder ensures that the liner surface does not become totally coated with plastic film that reduces cleaning ability, while also providing improvements in tensile strength and debris reduction. The binder solution preferably has a high surface tension (low surfactant level), so that the binder becomes concentrated at the junction points of the fibers throughout the fabric. The low level of surfactant ensures a low risk of chemical attack of the disk media surface. The hydroentangled fabric cleans the disk media more efficiently, has less fiber debris, contains less environmental contaminants, is substantially loftier, and is cut with cleaner edges than standard thermally bonded diskette liners.

Durability of the flame retardancy to repeated hard water washing may be improved through a subsequent treatment with Nmethylol compounds such as methylolated melamine precondensate. A particularly high degree of flame retardancy is imparted to mercerized cotton cloth.
