    • The invention relates to an assembly having a constant velocity joint (1) and a receiving part (16). The constant velocity joint (1) comprises an outer part (2), an inner part (7), a cage (12) and balls (13). The outer part (2), on its outer face, is provided with a centering face (14) by means of which the outer part (2) is centrically received in a centering bore (17) of a receiving part (16). The flange (5) is tensioned against a contact face of the receiving part (16) by fixing bolts (20). The outer part (2) is produced from plate metal by a non-chip producing forming operation. Because of the type of arrangement, it can be correspondingly lighter in weight than a solid part incorporated for the transmission of the same amount of torque.

    • A constant velocity universal joint has an outer part (1) with outer tracks (3), and an inner part (6) with inner tracks (10) which, together, each receive one of a plurality of balls (13). The ball is guided by a cage (14). The cage is guided on a guiding face (9) of the inner part (6) by a spherical guiding face (16). The outer part (1) is closed towards one side by a first attaching part (5). The other side is closed by a sealing boot (20) which is secured to the outer part (1) on the one hand and to a second attaching element (12) on the other hand. The second attaching element (12) is connected to the inner part (6) so as to be rotationally fixed. The inner part (6) is held and centered relative to the outer part (1) by the balls (13) and the cage (14) on the one hand and by a control element (18) arranged between the outer part (1) and the inner part (6) on the other hand. To permit lubricant to be stored specifically in the region of the two guiding faces 9, 16 which are in contact with one another, there is provided a sealing cap (21) which at least partially covers the outer cage face and a sealing face (13) associated therewith. As this method achieves improved lubrication conditions, it is possible to use simpler lubricants as well, such as those used in rolling contact bearings.

    • A driveshaft (1) for driving the wheels of a motor vehicle has two constant velocity joints (2, 3) and a connecting shaft (4).     • A constant velocity ratio universal joint comprises a hollow outer joint member (1), an inner joint member (2), a plurality of balls engaging grooves (5, 14) in meridian planes in the outer and inner joint members, and a cage (17) with windoes (21) wherein the balls are guided. The cage has an internal part-spherical surface (18) which engages the surface (13) of the inner joint member, the surface (18) extending from the cage end oppsite the end (6) of the outer joint member, and ending before a plane containing the centers of the balls, while the outer surface of the cage has a clearance from the internal surface of the outer joint member. The configuration of the grooves is such that the balls always engage them with a cage control angle .beta. which is at least 7.degree., sufficient to hold the cage surface (18) in engagement with the inner joint member and prevent any tendency for the joint to become jammed against articulation. The joint is able to articulate with low frictional resistance.
