    • The panel comprises an outer plate (70) supported by a metal frame (71). Two opposite sides of the frame are formed by light metal profiled elements (72, 73) having a rim (74) which extends along one edge (75) of the outer surface of the plate. This rim may be bevelled or right-angled. The plate is clamped between the opposing rims (74) by means of two threaded steel rods (76). The other two edges of the panel are devoid of any metal element. The panel (62) may be placed on the front of a window (63) or an opaque part of the facade. This panel makes it possible to attach, without the use of glue, thin facade facing plates, particularly plates of glass or stone, so that they are virtually the only visible parts of the facade.

The upper and lower mounting frames are provided with upwardly extending receiving pieces formed integrally on their respective front portions so as to mount at least one support frame unit thereon.

    • A glazing assembly for the exterior of a building comprises glazing structures each having rigid channel forming members bonded about its perimeter. The channels so formed are oriented open to the periphery of the structure. Pressure plates are inserted in the channels of the glazing structures, and are fastened to structural members of the building by mechanical means such as screws. Each pressure plate coacts with a channel member and preferably with channel members of adjacent glazing structures to mechanically secure the structures in place on the building without the appearance of external frame members. The resulting assembly provides continuous glazing for the exterior walls of the building.

The first and second bolt members are coupled to a support frame and form with the pin a rigid truss to assist in bearing the weight of the slab without deformation of the first bolt.

    • A curtain wall assembly composed of horizontal rows of standardized spandrel units mounted to respective floor systems of a building, and horizontal rows of standardized window units arranged alternately with and connected to the rows of spandrel units so as to enclose the spaces between the floor systems. Preferably, for firmly holding the window units against forces normal to the plane of the curtain wall assembly, a reinforcing stud is arranged vertically between any two adjoining window units and rigidly coupled to their opposed side frame members. Each reinforcing stud has its opposite ends anchored respectively to the reinforcing frames of the spandrel units underlying, and to those of the spandrel units overlying, the two window units between which the reinforcing stud lies. The inventive method dictates, first of all, the mounting of the spandrel units to the floor systems, followed by the connection of the window units between the rows of spandrel units.

A clevis to be affixed to each curtain wall unit rigidly carries a crosspiece of circular cross section extending parallel to the plane of the curtain wall unit. The crosspiece is to be slidably engaged in an upwardly open notch in a bracket secured to the floor structure, for both longitudinal and angular displacement relative to the bracket. Preferably, each curtain wall unit is to be coupled to the floor structure by two vertically spaced pairs of such mounting devices, with each pair of devices horizontally spaced from each other. The mounting devices allow the horizontal displacement of the curtain wall units relative to the floor structure and can absorb forces acting on the curtain wall units in a direction normal to their plane.
