摘要： Aqueous dispersions, and films prepared therefrom, comprising an organic phase of block copolymers and optional extenders wherein the block copolymers corresponds to the formula:A--B--X.sub.m --(B--A).sub.nwherein each A is a polymer block of a monovinylidene aromatic monomer and conjugated dienes, each B is a polymer block of one or more conjugated dienes and, optionally, one or more monovinylidene aromatic monomers, X is the remnant of a multifunctional coupling agent, m is 0 or 1, and n is an integer from 1 to 5. Each A polymer block has a weight average molecular weight from 4,000 to 15,000 Daltons. Each B polymer block has a weight average molecular weight from 20,000 to 200,000 Daltons. The total monovinylidene monomer content is from 6 to 30 percent by weight of the organic phase. The effective phase volume of the A polymer block in the organic phase is from 8 to 20 percent. Thin elastomeric articles prepared from the emulsions have improved tensile strength properties. Also claimed is a process for the preparation of such films.

摘要： A molded closure for a liquid container comprising a thermoplastic elastomer and a blowing agent. The molded closure is particularly suitable for use as a synthetic wine cork in a wine bottle. The molded closure does not permit passage of oxygen into the container, does not absorb oxygen from the contents of the container, can be removed from the container using a corkscrew without significant expansion, crumbling or disintegration, does not significantly taint a liquid in the container, permits the container to be placed horizontally immediately after insertion of the molded closure, and can permanently retain printed matter on its surface.

The product may be essentially non-foamed or highly foamed and and either tack-free or self-adhesive. It is particularly suitable for use as sealing gaskets, sheet stock, tubing, and as sealant-encapsulants.

The radiation initiated curing of the adhesive composition is accomplished without requiring the aid of a coupling agent to promote crosslinking of the block copolymer during exposure to the radiation.

摘要： A molded object having a sponge-like interior surrounded by a skin, molding composition from which it is produced, and the method for producing the article. Copolymers of vinyl-substituted aromatic compounds containing from 8-18 carbon atoms copolymerized with conjugated diene having from 4-12 carbon atoms and polymer chosen from among solid resinous polymers of vinyl-substituted aromatic compounds present in amounts ranging from about 10 to about 75 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer and solid resinous copolymers of ethylene present in an amount of about 5 to about 50 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the copolymer are blended with a sufficient amount of polarizing agent to achieve rapid heating through response to microwave treatment, blowing agent in an amount sufficient to provide a sponge-like, rubbery porosity to an article molded therefrom, and, optionally, cellular control agent. Composition is melted at a temperature that activates the blowing agent, molded, and removed from the mold as an article having a sponge-like interior surrounded by polymeric skin.

摘要： A molded article simulating the appearance of natural plantation crepe rubber and a method for producing this article. Styrene/butadiene linear or radial block copolymer having a polymerized styrene content of the range of about 20 to about 50 weight percent of the total block copolymer and resinous polymer of vinyl-substituted aromatic compound in the range of about 10 to about 60 parts resinous polymer per 100 parts block copolymer are blended with a sufficient amount of polarizing agent to achieve rapid heating through response to microwave treatment. The composition is melted, molded against a surface mirroring the appearance of plantation crepe rubber, and removed from the mold as an article simulating plantation crepe rubber. In an embodiment of the invention with chemical blowing agent incorporated into the molding composition, an amount of the molding composition is introduced with the mold that upon activation of the blowing agent during the molding operation produces a molded article having a normally dense skin with a microporous interior.
