    • The tuning circuit of an automatically tuned radio receiver comprises a semiconductor variable capacitance element and is supplied with control voltage from a voltage memory element. The voltage memory element is controlled in the polarity of input voltage and feeding time by a search control circuit and thereby its output voltage level varies upward or downward until the tuning circuit tunes to the selected broadcasting frequency. When the tuning circuit tunes to the broadcasting frequency, the search operation is suspended and the receiver is in the receiving condition. During this time, the voltage memory element stably maintains the output voltage memorized at the tuning period. The voltage memory element is controlled by the AFC voltage during the receiving condition and operates as an element of the AFC loop.

    • A radio receiver using an oscillator to generate a desired frequency at equal intervals as a local oscillator is disclosed. The radio receiver includes a time constant circuit initiated by turning on the receiver power supply. A pulse signal generator is controlled by the time constant circuit and generates a pulse after a desired time. This pulse is applied to the local oscillator to vary temporarily its oscillating frequency, thereby enabling the oscillating frequency of the local oscillator to be pulled into a frequency corresponding to a desired broadcasting station. A control voltage generator responsive to the IF amplifier and detector of the receiver operates to block the output of the pulse signal generator when it is detected that the frequency of the local oscillator has pulled into the frequency corresponding to the desired broadcasting station. A muting circuit is responsive to the pulse signal generator to prevent an output from the receiver until the frequency of the local oscillator has pulled into the frequency corresponding to the desired broadcasting station.

    • A television tuning system has a ramp voltage source including an electrical current source and an electrical current sink coupled through selectively operable transmission gates for varying the voltage of a tuning capacitor to control a local oscillator for tuning independent of received signal. The local oscillator signal is mixed with a received signal to produce an intermediate frequency signal which is amplified in an IF amplifier. A frequency detector is coupled to the IF amplifier and produces an error signal dependent upon the frequency difference between a reference frequency and the IF signal. An additional current source and sink are coupled to the tuning capacitor through transmission gates controlled by the error signals. Differences greater than a predetermined amount selectively activate the latter transmission gates to provide substantially constant magnitude tuning voltage corrections irrespective of the amount of the difference.
