    • The invention relates to an arrangement for monitoring the performance loss of an oxygen probe arranged forward of a catalytic converter. The oxygen probe supplies an actual voltage U.sub.-- ACT for a lambda controller for an internal combustion engine and the arrangement includes: a computation unit for computing the time-dependent mean value .vertline.U.sub.-- ACT-U.sub.-- DES .vertline. of the actual voltage U.sub.-- ACT from a desired voltage U.sub.-- DES; and, an evaluation unit for determining the performance loss of the oxygen probe on the basis of the time-dependent mean value. A simple method sequence which can be carried out with the above arrangement includes the step of deeming the probe to have an impermissibly high performance loss when the above-mentioned mean value drops below a threshold value. However, the quotient is preferably formed between the above-mentioned mean value and the mean value .vertline.FR.sub.-- ACT-FR.sub.-- DES.vertline. and the probe is deemed to have too great a performance loss when this quotient drops below a threshold value. The variable .vertline.FR.sub.-- ACT-FR.sub.-- DES.vertline. is the amount of the deviation of the output signal FR.sub.-- ACT of the lambda controller from a desired value FR.sub.-- DES. In this procedure, a very good signal/noise ratio is obtained which permits an especially reliable evaluation of the performance loss of the probe.

    • A tank-venting arrangement for a motor vehicle includes a fuel tank KT having a HC (hydrocarbon)-sensor, an adsorption filter AF and a tank-venting valve TEV. If the HC-sensor annouces that fuel vapor above a pregiven concentration is present in the tank, then it is expected that a lambda correction in the lean direction is required when the tank-venting valve is opened. If such a correction is not determined, this shows that either the arrangement leaks or the tank-venting valve does not open correctly. For carrying out the mentioned testing method, this arrangement requires only a single additional sensor, namely, the HC-sensor mounted in the tank. The arrangement is therefore simpler than known arrangements and nonetheless permits carrying out a reliable method for checking the operability.

    • A control device for controlling the quantity of fuel which is supplied to the cylinders of an internal combustion engine by means of an injection device at each cylinder exhibits a precontrol timer 10, an individual-value memory 11 and a logic device 12. The individual-value memory stores individual values which are provided to the injection devices for the individual cylinders of an internal combustion engine 13. The logic device logically combines the individual values with a precontrol time provided by the precontrol timer, in such a manner that such a control time is obtained for each injection device that the lambda values individually measured for each cylinder by a lambda probe in the exhaust gas are essentially equal for all cylinders. It is possible to achieve very advantageous exhaust gas values with such a control device.

    • The invention is directed to a method for monitoring the operation of an intake-manifold flap for switching the intake manifold of an internal combustion engine. The engine rpm (nmot) is measured utilizing an rpm sensor and the air mass flow (ms) is measured utilizing an air mass flow sensor. The intake manifold pressure (ps) is computed on the basis of the engine rpm (nmot) and the air mass flow (ms) for at least two different intake-manifold flap positions and, simultaneously, the intake-manifold pressure is measured utilizing a pressure-detecting sensor. The difference between the computed and measured intake-manifold pressures is formed for each one of at least two positions of the manifold flap. A diagnosis is then made of the operation of the intake-manifold flap by evaluating the differences formed.
