    • A fuel supply apparatus includes: a low-pressure fuel system applying pressure to a fuel in a fuel tank by using a first low-pressure pump and supplying the fuel to port fuel injection valves; a high-pressure fuel system applying pressure to the fuel in the fuel tank by using a second low-pressure pump, applying further pressure to the fuel by using a high-pressure pump driven by an internal combustion engine, and supplying the fuel to in-cylinder fuel injection valves; and an ECU controlling actuation of at least the first low-pressure pump and the second low-pressure pump in accordance with an operation state of the internal combustion engine. As the low-pressure fuel system and the high-pressure fuel system are independent of each other, pulsation generated from the high-pressure pump does not propagate to the port fuel injection valves.

    • In a cordless telephone system, a master unit adds to a registration signal an identification (ID) code assigned to a slave unit connectable to the master unit, a master unit transmission password, and an ID code assigned to the master unit, and sends the resulting registration signal to the slave unit. On receiving the registration signal, the slave unit determines whether or not the master unit transmission password is identical with a slave unit password stored therein. If the former is identical with the latter, the slave unit writes the master unit ID code therein, adds the master unit ID code, slave unit transmission password, and slave unit ID code to an end-of-registration signal, and then sends the signal to the master unit. On receiving the end-of-registration signal, the master unit writes the slave unit ID code included in the signal if the slave unit transmission password is identical with a password stored therein.

    • A bill retention device includes a relatively long guide belt which has one end thereof secured to a first rotary member and the other end to a second rotary member and is wound on the first rotary member when no bill isretained at all. For accommodating bills, the second rotary member is rotated to wind the guide belt and also wind the bills tightly thereon. In accordance with winding of the second rotary member, the guide belt is unwound from the first rotary member. Thus, the guide belt is finally wound on the second rotary member many times resulting in winding up of a large number of bills. By having the guide belt wound on the first rotary member simultaneously with the reverse rotation of the second rotary member, the retained bills are unwound from the second rotary member one by one whereby the bills can be automatically returned.
