    • A lid of a fuel tank comprises a lid body constructed of a molded plastic and shaped and sized to be put in an opening formed in a wall of the fuel tank. The lid body has a first portion that is exposed to an outside of the fuel tank when the lid is put in the opening of the wall and a second portion that is exposed to an interior of the fuel tank when the lid is put in the opening of the wall. At least one of the first and second portions has a flat surface for mounting thereon external parts. The lid further comprises a through passage that extends in and through the lid body between the first and second portions. The through passage includes a first passage part terminating at the first portion, a second passage part terminating at the second portion, and a third passage part extending between the first and second passage parts to connect the same. The first and second passage parts are offset in a direction parallel with the flat surface.

    • In an air-fuel ratio feedback control of an internal combustion engine aimed to approximate an air-fuel ratio to a target air-fuel ratio set according to operating conditions of the engine, the feedback control is carried out using the feedback control amount which is computed according to a sliding mode control, having a deviation between the target air-fuel ratio and the detected air-fuel ratio detected by the air-fuel ratio sensor set as a switching function. According to the present invention, a simple air-fuel ratio feedback control is carried out according to an accurate sliding mode control with no dispersion for each engine, that is easy to design, and that can be applied generally to any kind of vehicle or engine. Further, by varying the feedback gain depending on operating conditions, by controlling the computing cycle of the feedback control amount, or by performing a Smith dead time compensation control, the influence provided by the dead time element existing in the control object is eliminated, thereby ensuring the response characteristic and stability of the control system.

    • A throttle valve switch unit for use with a throttle valve situated in an internal combustion engine. A mobile contact is drivingly connected to the throttle valve for movement with rotation of the throttle valve. The mobile contact is engageable with at least two fixed contacts. The first fixed contact is placed for engagement with the mobile contact when the throttle valve occupies a first predetermined position. The second fixed contact is placed for engagement with the mobile contact when the throttle valve occupies a second predetermined position. The first fixed contact is connected through a first resistance element to one of a first terminal for connection to the ground and a second terminal for connection with a source, of voltage. The second fixed contact is connected to the one terminal through a second resistance element having a resistance value different from that of the first resistance element. The mobile contact is connected to the other terminal through a third resistance element. The mobile contact is connected to a single signal terminal for producing signals having voltage levels different when the throttle valve occupies the first predetermined position than when the throttle valve occupies the second predetermined position.
